Cadence Molecular Sciences has developed a cutting-edge, first-in-class cloud-native platform for molecular design, cheminformatics and data management ("Orion"). Everyone, from top twenty pharmaceutical companies to emerging biotechnology startups use Orion to accelerate the pace of discovery in the areas of new therapeutics and molecular materials.

Requirements:

We are looking for an outstanding UX/UI designer to lead the design of the Orion platform. You will apply user-experience research and design methodologies to catalyze the development of the platform for molecular design. You will partner with product, UI engineering, drug-discovery science, marketing and senior leadership to oversee the user experience of therapeutic design.

In your role, you will work with Ph.D. drug-discovery scientists and commercial teams, as well as conduct user research and synthesize the many voices into a unified and strategic roadmap to guide our design. You will develop sketches, wireframes, high-fidelity mockups, and working prototypes and iteratively refine solutions as designs are implemented to deliver creative, consistent and practical solutions. You will provide advocacy for human-centered design.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Conduct high-quality user research to develop user personas and design strategy that can be articulated in a complete user experience
  • Create and iteratively refine design solutions through mocks, wireframes and high-fidelity prototypes
  • Measure product success and value delivery through analytics
  • Participate in formulating strategic product vision as it relates to user experience design
  • Coach stakeholders in key aspects of design
  • Contribute to building design resources with developers (e.g., UI component libraries)

Requirements:

  • BS with a minimum of 7 years of experience OR MS with a minimum of 5 years of experience OR PhD with a minimum of 1 year of experience
  • 3+ years' experience in UX/UI design at an agile, SaaS or similar organization
  • Excellent user research skills and an ability to synthesize and translate technical user research and experience into elegant visual design.
  • Well-acquainted with design tools such as Balsamiq, Sketch, Figma, InVision, etc.
  • A history of working with diverse stakeholders including front-end engineers, customers and product representatives.

Preferences:

  • Extensive experience working closely with an engineering team.
  • Ability to work with PhD scientists and users.
  • Understanding of molecules, chemistry, pharmaceuticals or a related field.
  • A background or experience in software engineering for a STEM discipline.
  • Experience working on cloud-based SAAS services

You want:

An opportunity to be a UX/UI designer in a fast-paced business focused on cutting-edge products directly impacting the discovery of new therapeutics

An exciting environment that will push and support your desire to grow and improve professionally

A diverse professional environment made up of scientists, engineers, commercial and thought leaders in molecular design, computational chemistry and drug discovery

A Silicon-Valley based company with a long history of technology-first management and rapid adoption of best practices in science and engineering
