This role is responsible for leading design and execution of customized market research methodologies to deliver strategic customer insights and drive improved decision-making. The therapy area focus is Hematology. Further specialization of activities, depending on the role assignment, can include application to branding & communications, early development asset planning, late stage development / launch asset planning, and brand performance management.

Key Responsibilities and Major Duties

  • Provide leadership for Customer Insights, developing and deploying innovative market research techniques that reflect best practices to develop key strategic customer insights and drive superior decision-making
  • Independently engage as the lead insights thought partner for launch and follow-on indications. Earn status as a trusted advisor, embedding customer & market insights into business decision making.
  • May mentor and manage contractors or rotation development candidates assigned to team, coaches contract staff as needed, and effectively manages service providers to develop and execute appropriate primary research solutions and deliver insights to drive improved decision-making for competitive advantage.
  • Partner collaboratively with Customer & Market Insights, Enterprise Strategy Analytics & Commercial Performance, Commercialization Analytics, and Competitive Intelligence colleagues to deliver integrated value of insights with analytics to stakeholders on the full range of key business questions to inform annual strategic plans, annual brand plans, and commercial performance.
  • Accurately assess business issues and develop the appropriate market research design to address them, providing superior analysis and reasoned solutions
  • Synthesize data from multiple sources to bring added value to research studies, then draw and communicate customer insights in a business-oriented, concise and meaningful way to be delivered to the business team
  • Consistently develop and recommend reasonable, data-driven business-building ideas and encourage the use of customer and market insights to inform business decisions
  • Demonstrate mastery of primary research designs and analysis, and independently develop customized non-standard research solutions to address complex, multi-faceted tactical and strategic business issues
  • Develop and align effectiveness metrics to quantify impact of key strategic initiatives, ranging from market development efforts, customer model initiatives, and business performance

Qualifications

  • BA/BS in relevant functional discipline required. MS/MA, MBA, or other advanced degree in relevant discipline preferred
  • 5 + years of relevant market research experience
  • Pharmaceutical industry experience strongly preferred; therapeutic category knowledge for relevant job scope strongly desired
  • Experience in the key functional areas of market research, including design and analysis of primary market research, secondary data analysis and some experience with forecasting/modeling, required
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team, provide direction and oversight, and motivate others
  • Proven ability to effectively operate and influence cross-functionally
