Maintenance Facility Engineer

Your Purpose:

As an essential member of the Brightline Rail Operations team, you will inspect building and rail stock maintenance equipment to determine functional systems and detect malfunctions and needed repair making notes and recommendations.

Your Role:

  • Perform mechanical maintenance to include but is not limited to, air compressors, air dryers, mobile scissor lift, floor scrubbers, reach truck, mobile train wash, and lavatory service cart.
  • Performs minor electrical maintenance to include but not be limited to replacement or repair fixtures (e.g. wall switches ad outlets, incandescent and fluorescent bulbs and tubes, ballast, sockets, fuses, minor appliances, cords, etc.) using appropriate hand, power, and specialty tools.
  • Performs minor plumbing maintenance (e.g. replacement or repair of leaks in drains and faucets, unclogging of drains, trenching and laying new lines, replacing drain hoses on washers and similar devices, etc.).
  • Operate a computer that controls and monitors mechanical equipment and utility systems.
  • Monitors building systems including Fire alarms, HVAC, and plumbing to optimize effectiveness, efficiency, and safety.
  • Installs electrical wiring and equipment including 480VAC, 220/110VAC, and low/high voltage systems and welding.
  • Responds to emergency maintenance requests as required.
  • Must be able to operate and repair landscaping equipment.
  • Daily monitoring and maintenance of the fuel farm.
  • Maintaining the locomotives/coaches lifting jacks.
  • Maintaining the Wheel Lathes.
  • The understanding and maintenance of the track mobile.
  • Troubleshooting and repairing of the electric gates.
  • The general maintaining of the running repair facility, including painting, and general equipment repair.

You:

  • High School Diploma or GED, some college or vocational training preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of previous work in a related field.
  • Can work weekends, holidays and nights and possibly more than 40 hours a week. Brightline will operate on a continuous, set schedule. On-call availability is a necessity.
  • Have sound judgment, thinking and acting independently, expressing clear and effective verbal communication skills to interact with guests and other Teammates to ensure exceptional customer service.
  • Able to lift, climb, push and/or bend for extended periods of time and have the ability to lift objects with weights in excess of 50 pounds in a safe manner.
  • When a problem arises, you find yourself able to come up with a timely solution.
