Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced wind farm Operation Manager who will be responsible for overall site management and coordination of activities including contractor management. Delegation of authority as needed to Deputy Operations Manager’s to ensure coverage of duties. The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring and delivering on availability and budget targets, managing major corrective exchanges, balance of plant and turbine maintenance activities to maximize availability and generation. The Operations Manager will set the tone and expectations for safety and compliance performance and will be responsible for landowner and community relations to ensure positive outcomes.

Key Accountabilities

  • Foster and maintain a culture of safety and care and empower both bp employees and contractors to speak up and stop work

  • Provide direct oversight of all contractors providing services at site including performance managing contractors, understanding relevant contracts and interacting on a regular basis with contractor leadership

  • Provide input, understand and monitor availability and budget targets and report out on a regular basis any potential variances

  • Interface with landowners and the local communities to maintain positive relationships in the areas where we operate

  • Work closely with support functions to identify and mitigate operational and safety risks at the asset

  • Work closely with Asset Management to track financials and provide support when interfacing with partners, lenders and other stakeholders

  • Provide leadership through example for Deputy Operation Managers and Facility Technicians including supporting career growth and development

  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal financial regulations

  • Support the team with administrative tasks such as scheduling meetings, managing correspondence, and preparing financial reports.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering, or equivalent meaningful experience.

  • Minimum 5 years of work experience in Operations Leadership with a demonstrated track record of delivering safe, reliable, and compliant operations.

  • Skilled in leading and developing people – strong people management skills required, with proven ability to lead, motivate and develop highly technical teams.

  • Proven track record of safety leadership including a history of actively influencing the safe operations of 3rd-party contractors.

  • Ability to work with diverse teams in both office and field operation environments and ability to actively engage with business unit leadership.

 Demonstrated financial knowledge of business planning and budget management with experience in analysing and reporting of business performance.

  • Proven track record in embracing and applying common processes, best practices, continuous improvement and sharing with peers.

  • Adept at utilizing tools such as Microsoft Word and Excel

  • Fitness for Duty – No impediments to ability to safely climb 300’ wind towers and safely lift 75lbs

  • Must reside within 75 miles of the O&M Facility
