Role synopsis
The role of the Finance team, in conjunction with the Business Units (BU) leadership, is to maximize value while maintaining a strong control environment (in partnership with Accounting Reporting and Control and the BU teams) and ensure accurate financial reporting.
The Eagle Ford Finance Analyst provides critical financial analysis and strategic support for our operations, capital investment and development activities. The successful candidate will serve as a key business partner to cross-functional teams and will be responsible for delivering clear, insightful financial presentations and recommendations to senior leadership. This position reports to the Eagle Ford Finance Manager and works closely with the bpx Corporate Performance and Planning, Deployed Control, Commercial Midstream, and Functional Excellence teams. The Finance team is responsible for leading the Planning, Performance Management, Strategy, Investment Governance, Portfolio Management, and Competitor Intelligence activities in the BU. As a member of the Finance organization the Analyst will be part of a very collaborative group, where people are willing to step out of their roles to help others.
Key accountabilities
Support Development Projects: Partner with development, engineering, commercial, and operations teams to evaluate the financial viability of major capital projects and development initiatives.
Leadership Presentations: Prepare and deliver high-quality financial presentations, investment cases, and performance updates for senior executives and governance bodies.
Decision Support: Provide data-driven recommendations to influence capital allocation and strategic investment decisions.
Ensure decisions are value based and drive commercial acumen.
Benchmarking & Insights: Leverage industry knowledge and competitive intelligence to inform project economics and development strategies.
Financial Modeling & Analysis: Build and maintain robust economic models and scenarios to evaluate investment opportunities, including sensitivities and risk assessments.
Provide accurate and timely performance management information – monthly and full year analysis, performance scorecards, monthly business review, etc.
Provide variance commentary for actuals vs forecast and budget in a clear and concise narrative.
Prepare/coordinate monthly/quarterly accruals for capital, and operating costs as needed.
Actively work on continuous improvement of current and new processes as well as improved managerial reporting to support business decision making.
Support Portfolio Management and Business Development activities.
Ensure compliance with Investment Governance policy.
Drive bpx standardization and performance improvement initiatives as needed. Help evolve and improve forecasting, reporting, and investment evaluation frameworks and tools.

Essential Education & Experience
Must be legally authorized to work full time in the US for anyone other than your current employer
Must not require, now or in the future, sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., TN, H1B status)
3+ years of progressive experience in corporate finance, investment analysis, or development finance, ideally in the energy industry.
Proven ability to communicate complex financial and industry concepts clearly and concisely to senior stakeholders.
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Engineering, or Business Administration from an accredited university. MBA is a plus
Desirable criteria & qualifications
Strong business acumen and data-driven decision-making capabilities
Excellent collaboration, storytelling, and stakeholder management skills.

How much do we pay (Base) $97,000 - $127,000 *Note that the pay range listed for this position is a good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible base compensation at the time of posting.
