Practice Area Profile

BCG's Energy practice helps companies navigate an increasingly complex business climate. The practice covers the Oil & Gas and Power & Utilities sectors. We also have deep knowledge in Energy Transition and Sustainability, Energy Trading and Risk Management and Energy Engineering and Services.
Our projects typically apply BCG's core consulting skills in functional areas such as digitalization, strategy, organization or performance improvement, but in the distinctive environment of Energy. We also address projects that touch upon more operational or technical challenges, which we deliver through our expert consultants, occasionally partnering with external specialists. We work with the senior leaders of leading international and national oil companies, service providers, utilities, regulators and financial institutions.

The Energy Practice has enjoyed rapid and sustained annual growth over several years, representing about 10% of BCG's global business volume. Worldwide over 300 Partners, Principals and Project Leaders focus in the Energy space, supported by a large group of Energy experienced and trained Consultants and Analysts, many with pre-BCG industry experience. We are well known for our long history of cutting-edge research and thought leadership. Consulting with BCG ensures you work on the biggest issues being tackled by senior management, with a wide variety of experiences across different clients, topics and geographies.

What You'll Do

As a Project Leader, you will gain highly entrepreneurial experience and working alongside some of the world's top minds in management consulting. You will advise clients on executive level in the energy sector, supporting them to improve or transform their businesses and achieve excellence in what they do as we work to deliver lasting impact in a highly dynamic environment.

You will lead diverse and high performing project teams enabling them to find the right approach, motivate them to deliver on time and to achieve long-term impact for our clients. You will also drive and orchestrate the majority of the project related client interactions ensuring a constructive collaboration with our clients.

You will be challenged out of your comfort zone, significantly widen your scope of expertise and experience a steep learning curve both professionally and personally. Along this exciting journey you will be supported by senior mentors, excellent research and knowledge teams and career development experts which will help you to become highly successful in reaching both your personal and professional goals.

What You'll Bring (Experience & Qualifications)

At Project Leader level you would need minimum 10 years of experience mixing:

Industry experience in roles with strategic focus in areas related to oil & gas, power & utilities and/or energy transition
Experience in management consulting
Experience in managing teams, devising and implementing business strategies involving quantitative analysis, conceptualization and communication of strategic solutions
Superior problem-solving skills and ability to work well under pressure in a demanding environment
Exceptional drive and commitment striving for excellence
Highly self-driven, well-structured yet flexible, able to think strategically / end-to-end
High level of agility, eager to develop new skills and areas of expertise
High level of adaptability to a frequently changing professional and social working environment
Willingness to travel according to business needs
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
