Global IT Portfolio Senior Director - Platform Engineering

WHAT YOU'LL DO
Platform Engineering is where we build the capabilities for delivering value to our clients and colleagues faster than ever, and drive the Modern Engineering Transformation of IT in the process. As the Platform Engineering Portfolio Director, you play a critical role in supporting the CTO in the execution and balance of strategic initiatives and daily operations. This position acts as a strategic advisor to the CTO ensuring the Platform Engineering Org and BCG's goals and objectives are efficiently achieved.

Among your responsibilities, you will:
Act as 'Air Traffic Controller' to streamline executive decision-making
Orchestrate cross-team leadership initiatives (e.g. Annual Goal Setting)

Organise, set the agenda and chair recurring PE leadership meetings for alignment and leadership-level updates and decisions
Lead preparation for executive forums and key business events (e.g. ABR, QBR)

Breakdown silos and connect teams across Platform Engineering and IT
Lead the creation of holistic PE strategic value roadmap
Seek and drive operational opportunities for consistency across PE teams
Drive alignment with leaders to advance initiatives and resolve conflicts

Link Platform Engineering to broader organization for alignment and awareness
Work together with enterprise functions such as EPMO, Finance, HR, etc.
Drive awareness of latest updates and accomplishments
Drive strategic vendor management Workforce strategy and review process

Represent Platform Engineering in leadership forums
Represent PE lead in resolving complex cross-team challenges
Lead strategic initiatives and jump in to help resolve complex problems and escalations.

Control of in-flight deliveries
Lead E2E governance of key PE deliveries, and commitments to others, regularly assuring alignment to strategic outcomes.
Host relevant governance controls to ensure urgency, control and transparency
Ensuring key risks/issues are controlled and appropriately communicated.

YOU'RE GOOD AT
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in managing large-scale global IT initiatives and thrive in a work environment that requires strong problem solving skills, team collaboration and self-direction. You will excel in:
Diving into detail while thinking 'big-picture' to ensure holistic goals are met
Approaching complex problems in methodical and organized manner
Driving critical open items to logical closure with urgency
Building strong working relationships in Platform Engineering and across IT
Bringing a balanced mindset with strategic, delivery and operations perspectives
Being data-driven while managing executive decisions
Taking the necessary first steps to get an initiative in motion
Possessing superior collaboration and influencing skills when working with others across cohorts, functions and global regions
Bringing energy and using sound business logic to help run the PE function

YOU BRING (EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS)

Minimum of bachelor's degree, preferably in a technical field
Total of 14+ years' relevant experience, including proven experience as an IT leader, ideally having led global projects spanning multiple teams and IT competencies
Strong executive communication skills that enable you to connect to all levels of the organization
Ability to effectively manage at both the detailed and high levels of multiple initiatives
Negotiation capabilities to resolve trade-offs without need for escalating
Proven analytical skills, business acumen and experience making decisions based on hard and soft data
Financial literacy and a deep understanding of budget and funding processes
Entrepreneurial spirit and comfort working within in rapidly changing environment
Experience working with Agile methodologies
Experience in consulting is a plus

Technical Area Leads and Tribe Leads that run our digital product teams
Enterprise PMO team members
IT Leadership Team members
Peer Portfolio Managers across other functions
