Senior Manager - Business Control Transformation & Consolidation of workforce spend at Booking.com :

In this role you will be a member of a high-achieving team of motivated professionals who collaborate closely with their respective stakeholders and business partners. You will report to the FP&A Director of Business Control at Booking.com and be based out of our global HQ campus in Amsterdam.

Responsibilities:

Transformation Initiatives
  • Leads assigned end-to-end project management of Business Control Transformation initiatives, including process design and reengineering, system implementations, and organizational change management. Team up with the Central BPO & Transformation organization to ensure a clear RACI on deliverables and execution of the system developments by the BPO team.
  • Strives for the most effective and efficient Business Control end-to-end work process design, synchronizing well and closely coordinating between the organizations doing the work, the systems / tools supporting the work, and the policy / governance guiding the work.
  • Team up with FP&A and overall Finance organization to ensure timely and quality project deliverables including internal reviews and sign off by FP&A leadership.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks, leveraging your expertise in risk management and finance domain knowledge.
  • Engage in retrospective and lessons learned on projects actively involved in, including NPS from stakeholders, & user experience within FP&A team.
Personnel costs Consolidation
  • Oversees a team of 2, responsible for development and consolidation of personnel costs forecasts and plans (including consulting resources), working closely with all business controllers. Accountable for creation of plans for other personnel cost models ranging from incentives, bonus, social charges/pension, personnel allowances, recruiting fees, other benefits, relocation, etc. Works in close collaboration with the Compensation and Benefits organization.
  • Accountable for development of forecasted compensation rates, working in close collaboration with Payroll and Comp & Ben to be used by all business controllers, and developing a forecast accuracy dashboard with remediations on deviations.
  • Direct accountability of plan-forecast creation for senior leadership budgets and actual spend analysis.
  • Under remit of Corp FP&A, accountable for proposing workforce budget targets at the predetermined level of granularity to be included in overall financial target setting.
  • Consolidate personnel spend, including commentary and executive overviews for managerial report out (actuals, forecast and budget). In collaboration with business controllers.
  • When business performance requires it, underpin proposed action plans to meet any top down challenge or reinvestment proposals in area of Personnel spend
  • Analyze financial data and trends to identify opportunities to review workforce spend
  • Establish relevant and insightful analytics (digitally) for leaders, including forward looking views with end to end overviews of YoY drivers, compare to plans and real time insights on recruiting status, roles not yet requested, (nominal costs and underlying FTE outlooks)
Process & Framework
  • Coordinate calendar of Business Control activities, harmonization of KPI and report out, and align with other enabling functions on end to end operational flows (e.g. People, Procurement, legal, accounting etc...)
  • Set reporting and analytical standards and address gaps for the business control group in terms of reporting process by preparing variance analysis, management reports, and presentations for internal stakeholders.
  • Set standards for approval and creation of investments business cases for non revenue related investments (OPEX).
  • Engage in the creation and deployment of training programs tailored to opex management and managers accountability of opex spend
  • Acts as a change agent within the business control community and its internal customers to drive simplification and automation across our various business units for all of our locations, while driving best practices sharing and optimization management of Business Control service offering for enhanced value creation.
Planning Tooling-Infrastructure Implementation
  • In collaboration with FP&A leadership, ensure Business Control systems and flow of data across the company ecosystem evolves to remain fit for purpose and are aligned with other business applications such as Workday, Concur, Ivalua, S4, etc...
  • Define user cases enhancements in our planning tools for prioritization by FP&A steerco.
  • Drive adoption of FP&A Digital applications, Data Insights and best in class tools
  • Stay up to date with trends, and Benchmarking in spend management;
Project Management
  • Responsible for the deployment within the business of new releases and features in the area of business control management.
  • Responsible for defining user requirements in area of scope, execution of testing plans of approved projects
  • Review of new ideas, prioritization, status of active projects, address areas when course corrections are needed (including resources).
  • Measure impact of initiatives deployed and execution against approved business cases, and drive lessons learned on our process optimization efforts.
Skills & Experience
  • 10+ years of relevant post-qualified FP&A experience (in global organization, in related e-commerce and/or commercial companies, with a strong affinity with Business Control scope)
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics. MBA or advanced degree is preferred
  • Professional qualification in lean & Agile techniques and Project Management is a valued plus (e.g. PMP, CAPM, Prince2)
  • Strong communication and analytical skills, being able to influence without hierarchical power, manage upward and be creative in managing a large and diverse range of stakeholders;
  • Pragmatic, proactive, 'self-propelling' way of working and able to operate in a dynamic environment; Curious attitude and eager to solve problems;
  • Ability to collaborate, bring people together and challenge opinions;
  • Ability to guide and advise at all organizational levels to implement improvements for the finance/FP&A organization;
  • Affinity for finance technology and systems, and solid understanding of financial & planning tooling/processes.
  • Prior management and leadership experience preferred
