About Us: At Booking.com, data drives our decisions. Technology is at our core. And innovation is everywhere. But our company is more than datasets, lines of code or A/B tests. We're the thrill of the first night in a new place. The excitement of the next morning. The friends you encounter. The journeys you take. The sights you see. And the memories you make. Through our products, partners and people, we make it easier for everyone to experience the world.
Role: The Senior Data Engineer I is a technical leader who drives data engineering strategies and delivery across teams. The role will lead solution envisaging, technical designs, and hands-on implementation. - Developing scalable, real-time event-based streaming data pipelines to support internal and customer-facing use cases.
- Ensuring ongoing reliability and performance of data pipelines through proactive monitoring, end-to-end testing standards, and incident handling.
- Writing maintainable, reusable code by applying standard libraries and design patterns, and refactoring for simplicity and clarity.
- Developing scalable and extensible physical data models aligned with operational workflows and infrastructure constraints.
- Owning end-to-end data applications by defining and tracking SLIs and SLOs to ensure reliability and quality.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Data Engineer or a similar role, with a consistent record of successfully delivering data solutions.
- You have built production data pipelines in the cloud, setting up data-lake and server-less solutions; you have hands-on experience with schema design and data modeling and working with business stakeholders and data engineers to provide production level data solutions.
