Role Description:

A Senior Change Manager leads the change for Booking.com's most complex transformations (e.g. the Connected Trip Product Vision). The Senior Change Manager is a highly skilled and influential Change leader with expertise in complex transformations and challenging environments. They consistently create a clear path through and/or resolve complexity, including conflicting priorities, ambiguity, challenging stakeholders, scope changes, difficult and/or slow decision making.

The Senior Change Manager enables B.com leadership to lead the change. They are responsible for understanding and managing the impact of changes related to operating models, business processes, culture, behaviors & skills, new ways of working, and technology and data platforms across the Company. They understand the impact on audiences across our entire organization and create clarity on how these will be managed.

This role may also be involved in the governance and partners with program and / or portfolio management for highly complex program(s) linked to our company and department strategy & objectives.

This role doesn't have any People Management responsibilities, but manages the work of a team of change practitioners who are responsible for several streams of Change Management, if required.

Key Job Responsibilities and Duties:

Change Strategy

  • Mature business knowledge and understanding within the Business Unit and across Booking.com. Able to connect BU objectives to wider organizational objectives.
  • Fully understands change impacts across a change portfolio, relating to the full spectrum of changes, including culture, behavior & mindsets, process, technology and tooling, data and policy.
  • Designs and owns highly effective change strategies that drive successful change outcomes.
  • Gains buy in to change plans and strategy from senior leaders (VP upwards). Acts as a Business Partner to initiative sponsors and owners.

Planning & Execution

  • Designs and executes complex change/transformation plans that reach multiple audiences and effectively drive change.
  • Fosters an environment where new ideas are embraced.
  • Identifies KPIs and metrics to track the success of change strategy and plan across a portfolio.
  • Adjusts strategy and plan as a result. Integrates change metrics into Program and Portfolio success criteria / business outcomes where applicable.
  • Partners with project/program management on governance, stakeholder engagement and End-to-End Roadmaps.

  • Highly effective communicator who is credible & trusted by senior audiences (SVP/VP).
  • Excellent influencer in all groups

  • Enables department leadership. Influences and manages SVP/VP level and enables them to lead change.
  • Quickly makes connections and builds trusting relationships. High levels of organizational 'savviness' with a wide and diverse network.
  • Actively listens and asks insightful questions to read between the lines and better understand true motivations and perspectives. Shows empathy and understanding to others.
  • Consistently asks questions and summarizes complex information (and discussions) in a way that gives new perspectives to others.

Enable Storytelling

  • Creates excellent content by assimilating complex, technical and strategic information and translating it into simple, compelling and clear messages and storylines.
  • Coaches and enables the change owner to tell an engaging and compelling story that brings others along the change journey.
  • Coordinates/collaborates with internal communications, (external) designers, other skillsets to create engaging content.
  • Provides clarity and simplicity in the most challenging and complex communication landscapes.

Problem Solving

  • Ability to break up highly complex problems into actionable and easy to understand solutions.
  • Sought out by (senior) leaders to provide a transparent and broad perspective and candid feedback. Objective sounding board to test ideas and brainstorm.
  • Escalates risks and issues and owns potential solutions.
  • Identifies and manages dependencies across multiple initiatives and across a change portfolio.

Craft Contribution

  • Craft leader for the Business Unit. Drives and shapes the future of the change craft.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • 10+ years of relevant job experience
  • Proven track record in program and change management with a range of different methodologies, techniques, and best practices.
  • Experience with large-scale organizational transformation & change efforts.
  • Proven ability to independently lead multiple change initiatives end to end.
  • Emotionally intelligent and empathetic, with the ability to understand the emotional impacts of change on different stakeholders.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills focused on collaboration, building relationships within diverse teams, across organization and outside.
  • Strong leadership skills, ability to influence and partner with leadership and senior management.
  • Excellent and effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional business understanding; independently using data to drive decision-making and lead by example
  • Ability to break up highly complex problems into actionable and easy to understand solutions.
  • Analytical skilled and mastering data handling, able to tell a clear story with data/insights.
  • Ability to think holistically and be able to articulate long term vision for the craft and for the department strategy.
  • Ability to effectively communicate to large (upward) audiences, strong influencer in groups
  • Strong facilitator of large (15+) and/or challenging groups
  • Able to function well within ambiguity and in a constantly changing environment.
  • Background and experience in People transformations (reorganizations) and/or People programs change management(e.g people sytems, talent/performance mgmt change programs) is strongly desirable
