Position overview:

The Strategy team is responsible for (i) shaping the strategic dialogue within Pershing's Executive Committee, (ii) analyzing and assessing industry trends as inputs to our strategy development process (iii) formulating strategies and securing investments to pursue growth opportunities, (iv) structuring partnerships and acquisitions to advance the growth strategy, and (v) socializing and building confidence in our strategy among key stakeholder groups. The function thrives on intellectual curiosity, intellectual honesty, challenging the status quo, and collaboration.

In this role, you'll make an impact in the following ways:
  • Conducting research and data analysis to inform business decisions and strategic evaluations
  • Developing analyses and recommendations that advance the company's overall business strategy
  • Supporting the development of Pershing X, a newly established division that will provide all-encompassing Fintech solutions to the wealth management community
  • Supporting the execution of acquisitions and structuring of strategic partnerships
  • Articulating the company's goals and priorities across multiple stakeholder groups to create transparency and confidence in the business strategy
  • Evaluating new growth opportunities and perform market entry assessments in wealth management, financial services infrastructure and financial technology sectors
  • Developing plans and frameworks to evaluate and analyze strategic hypotheses
  • Constructing forecasts and analytical models to quantify business opportunities
  • Supporting the execution of M&A transactions through market screening, target due diligence and financial evaluation
  • Monitoring and analyzing industry trends and market changes impacting the asset and wealth management industry
  • Developing competitive intelligence on broad scope of players in the asset and wealth management industry
To be successful in this role, we're seeking the following:
  • Bachelors degree in business or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience required.
  • 5-7 years of related experience at a business consulting firm, strategy function or investor relationship within a financial services organization, or investment banking / transaction advisory role covering financial services
  • General knowledge of asset and wealth management industry, major players and client segments
  • Experience in market research and data analysis
  • Financial modelling experience
  • Analytical mind with problem-solving aptitude and ability to structure analyses
  • Ability to distil complex concepts in simple, practical terms
BNY Mellon assesses market data to ensure a competitive compensation package for our employees. The base salary for this position is expected to be between $93,000 and $173,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base salary if hired will be determined on an individualized basis, including as to experience and market location, and is only part of the BNYM total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, short and long-term incentive packages, and Company-sponsored benefit programs.
This position is at-will and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, change in geographic location, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
