Specialist, External Reporting

Overview

Candidate must have a strong accounting background and understand basic data processing principles. Candidate will be responsible to gain subject knowledge expertise of banking and or markets products at a global financial institution. Responsible for developing data processes flows, enhancing internal controls as all points in the product life cycle and performing supporting analytics and control reports to ensure the accuracy of the data for external reporting functions.

Candidate will be recognized throughout the firm as an external reporting point of contact for assigned products. Gather and report useable, accurate and timely financial information for the entire spectrum of the external reporting process to various external parties. Will need to ensure accuracy of data transformation along the product life cycle. Design, build and drive implementation activities to develop a common end-state reporting process in support of their direct supervisor and the global process owners. Sustain the integrity of the reporting process and address highly complex external reporting matters associated with the process.

Candidate will liaise with internal and external regulators to ensure compliance to prescribed standards. Coordinate the delivery of process documentation, training content, and advocate continuous improvement work efforts. Act as a coach and mentor to less experienced team members to perform effectively in their role. No direct reports.

Bachelor's Degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required. 5-7 years of experience in regulatory reporting preferred.

High-level key skills include but are not limited to:
  • CPA or MBA preferred but not required
  • 5+ years of experience in a large, complex financial institution
  • Working knowledge of key regulatory filings such as the FR 2052a, Call Reports or FFIEC 101 a plus
  • Strong Accounting knowledge
  • Experience in Business analysis and/or requirements gathering
  • Understands complex banking and markets products and develop and maintain product mappings and challenges internal controls along the product life cycle
  • Data analysis skills a plus, some experience with SQL, Power BI or other data querying tools
BNY Mellon assesses market data to ensure a competitive compensation package for our employees. The base salary for this position is expected to be between $64,000 and $120,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base salary if hired will be determined on an individualized basis, including as to experience and market location, and is only part of the BNYM total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, short and long-term incentive packages, and Company-sponsored benefit programs.
This position is at-will and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, change in geographic location, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
