Overview

This position is within the Finance Data Strategy team. This team supports the data architecture, sourcing, infrastructure, data governance and data operations for Finance. This team works with various groups across BNY Mellon in support of innovative and data driven solutions. The holder of this position will provide business and data leadership to analyze, define, challenge, and prioritize the business and functional specifications and operational architecture pertaining to these data driven solutions. This position will lead, coordinate, and build consensus across multiple global internal and external business and technology groups thorough the development life cycle which include: initial strategy/planning, scope definition, requirements, process design, development, testing, training, and implementation of the solution.

Responsibilities:
  • Partner with internal and third-party application owners, Finance and Technology to develop, test and implement solutions as well as to address anomalies and data issues.
  • Develop test plans, conversion strategy, implementation plan and user documentation.
  • Manage scope and change throughout the initiative utilizing change control and requirements traceability.
  • Propose process and data-quality improvements related to financial data.
  • Be an advocate for best practices while balancing business value and reasonable practicality
  • Profile and analyze source system data to determine data relationships, design constructs, consistency and quality.
  • Identify data gaps and process improvement opportunities and provide recommendations for improvements incorporating best practices.
  • Clearly define data requirements in the business context. This includes data sourcing requirements and data quality business rules.
  • Define project requirements by identifying project milestones, phases and elements (collaborate with PMO).
  • Perform root cause analysis for data gaps and issues, research and determine scope and complexity of issues and identify the steps for remediation.
  • Understand and communicate the financial and operational impact of any changes.
  • Coordinate remediation with relevant teams (source systems, technology, business, finance, etc.)
  • Create informative, actionable and repeatable reporting that highlights relevant business trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Identify areas of business process improvement and make recommendations for long-term solutions.
  • Drive automation of processes.
  • Interact with internal and external auditors to ensure compliance.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Economics, Finance, Accounting, Data Analysis or related discipline required.
  • 5- 7 years' experience in a similar role
  • Strong data analysis skills
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Clear and concise communication, both written and oral
  • Knowledge of finance and accounting preferred
  • Technical Skills with Python, Power BI, Alteryx, SQL would be preferred
  • Experience in functional and UAT test planning, test case development and execution.
