Senior Principal, Treasury Services Risk

Role Description:

This role is responsible for the ongoing independent oversight and challenge of day-to-day risk management activities, client and product risk assessments and risk reporting for the Treasury Services Business Line. This is a second line of defense role that serves as the central point of oversight for all risks, translating this into a meaningful assessment of the overall business risk profile. Central to this role will be an ability to connect elements of the risk appetite and profile and articulate these in a way that influences the business to own the appropriate action to identify, assess, monitor and mitigate risk.

A strong commercial mindset, understanding of drivers of risk in the Treasury Services business, experience managing an Enterprise Risk Management program, and an ability to build relationships across the three lines of defense are key to success.

Primary responsibilities include the following:
  • Drive the assessment, monitoring and reporting on risks inherent to business activities, including Financial Crimes and Compliance, Technology, Reputational and Strategic risks.
  • Support the establishment of the Business Risk Appetite, and contribute to its development, including metrics to monitor adherence.
  • Be accountable for the business line's adherence to the Operational Risk Management Framework, in collaboration with Operational Risk Officers.
  • Demonstrate a sound working knowledge of credit, third party, resiliency, technology and compliance risks; and outline market, liquidity and model risk to identify where it arises.
  • Lead the engagement with the Treasury Services Product team, building relationships and driving first line ownership.
  • Provide Risk Oversight of new and modified Products and other business initiatives. Advise on effective risk mitigation strategies and ensure implementation.
  • Collaborate to develop a strong risk culture and 1LOD risk ownership and contribute to developing the function's effectiveness as a second line to the business.
  • Develop productive relationships with other risk teams and partner functions, with opportunities to work on larger, cross-line of business activities. Provide comprehensive updates/escalation and/or reporting to all stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the achievement of team objectives as they evolve, and as the Line of Business changes to achieve their strategic goals.
Qualifications: Understanding of the Treasury Services Business and experience managing an Enterprise Risk Management program. Bachelor's degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required. 10+ years of total work experience preferred.
