Execution Services - Capital Markets

Execution Services is a trading organization providing execution and other trading services to internal asset management clients, with more than $650B in AUM. We are looking to externalize this offering by building an Outsourced Trading business to support external clients. The Technology team works closely with the Execution Services trading and quant research teams to develop industry-leading trading technology as we continue to evolve our business, infrastructure, and processes.

Role Overview:

This is an opportunity for a senior-level Full-Stack Developer to get involved from the ground-up, as we design, architect, and build a state-of-the-art platform to empower extensive reporting capabilities, research, and real-time analytics, in support of our new global, multi-asset trading organization.

Role-Specific Responsibilities:
  • Manage and mentor a team of experienced developers
  • Drive key decisions on design, architecture, and implementation of:
    • Trading research platform
    • Real-time decision support service
    • Reporting platform and service
  • Build a historical and real-time data management platform for a global, multi-asset trading organization.
  • Design and architect API-driven solutions, utilizing open-source resources.
  • Design and develop quant libraries for research and production.
  • Create back testing and simulation tools, for development and testing of execution tactics, creation of trading signals, studies of PM and trader behavior.
  • Implement a system of data quality checks.
  • Put into production trading signals, analytics and decision support tools created through the quant research process.
  • Implement workflow tools and automation to mitigate risks associated with trade execution.
  • Programming well-designed, testable, secure, and efficient code.
Required Qualifications:
  • Team management experience
  • Ability to navigate organizational challenges.
  • Ability to mentor, inspire and grow skillset for team member.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience required.
  • 10-14 years of experience in software development required; experience in the securities or financial services industry is a plus.
  • Proficient in Python coding. Experience in Java or C++ is a plus.
  • Experience with Equities, Derivatives, Futures, FX, and/or Fixed Income trading, analytics, and reporting.
  • Broad experience with front-end and server-side, multi-platform development tools and toolkits, especially open-source software.
  • Located in New York, NY or Boston, MA preferred.
  • Job holder must have understanding interdependencies and business impact of future IT plans.
  • S/he must have prior lead experience selecting and implementing vendor-specific methodologies and prior consulting experience with structured methodologies.
Preferred Skills:
  • Understanding of financial engineering and mathematical finance concepts.
  • Deep knowledge of time series database technologies and data optimization and visualization
  • Experience in PostgreSQL, Redis and other DB solutions.
  • Experience building ETL data pipelines.
  • Deep understanding of REST, gRPC and other API-related frameworks, concepts, and tools.
  • Experience market data API's, such as Bloomberg Market Data Feed (BPIPE).
  • Web-based UX design experience. JavaScript, Angular, and React experience preferred.
  • Containerization frameworks experience, such as Docker.
  • Automation frameworks experience, such as Airflow.
  • Knowledge of agile development methodologies, coding best practices, and ITID change management standards.
Consults with internal business groups to provide high-level application software development services or technical support. Must have thorough and demonstrative knowledge on or both the user-side frontend of a website, as well as the backend, server-side that powers the user-side. Additional requirements include intermediate understanding of security principles, relational databases and architecture design principles. Provides comprehensive senior-level technical consulting to IT management and senior technical staffs. Evaluates compliance with the organization's technology standards. Programming well-designed, testable, efficient code. Analyze, design and develop tests and test-automation suites. Develop flowcharts, layouts and documentation to satisfy requirements and solutions. Maintain software functionality and currency (technical debt and gain). Actively participate in code reviews. Integrate software components into a fully functional software system. Apply security and privacy principles. Works with internal business groups on implementation opportunities, challenges, and requirements of various applications. Analyzes information and provides recommendations to address and resolve business issues for a specific business group. Guides and consults with IT management and technical staffs regarding use of emerging technologies and associated services. Participates in defining corporate implementation and integration strategies of new technologies. Active learning engagement. Complete all required mandatory training / policy awareness curricula on time. Use learning tools such as Pluralsight to complete both recommended and aspirational targets set in personal development plans. Stays abreast of emerging technologies. Advocates for innovative, creative technology solutions. Mentors junior level engineers. Expertise in using a specific application development toolkit and proficiency of front end and backend development coding languages such as C#, Java, HTML, NodeJS, CSS, JSON, Angular, JavaScript. Must also have proficiency in application frameworks and containerization. Communications and organization skills; teamwork skills; possess strong interpersonal skills to support mentoring. N/A. BNY Mellon assesses market data to ensure a competitive compensation package for our employees. The base salary for this position is expected to be between $108,000 and per year at the commencement of employment. However, base salary if hired will be determined on an individualized basis, including as to experience and market location, and is only part of the BNYM total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, short and long-term incentive packages, and Company-sponsored benefit programs.
This position is at-will and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, change in geographic location, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
