We're seeking a future team member for the role of Group Manager, Real Estate Tax Reporting & Compliance to join our team. This role is located in Frankfurt, Germany - Hybrid model.

In this role, you'll make an impact in the following ways:
  • Ensure tax compliance in Germany and in foreign markets for more than 30 open-ended Real Estate funds (both, 'Immobilienfonds' and 'Immobilien-Spezialfonds' in the meaning of the German Investment Tax Act (GITA; in German: Investmentsteuergesetz) and for one closed ended fund. This includes particularly the following tasks:
    • Reconcilition of the so called 'Feststellungserklärungen' and the 'Überleitungs-rechnungen' under the GITA
    • Calculation and ongoing maintenance of the real estate ratio under the GITA
    • Preparation and reconciliation of German and foreign corporate income tax returns for Real Estate companies and directly held property
    • Preparation and reconciliation of German and foreign value added tax (VAT) returns, including the maintenance of input-VAT adjustments under Section 15a of the German VAT Act and the declaration of VAT under the so called 'reverse charge' mechanism under Section 13b of the German VAT Act
    • Preparation and reconciliation of the German withholding tax returns
    • Management of the timely submission of German and foreign tax returns and the subsequent tax payments within the legal deadlines
    • Calculation of capital gains tax accruals
    • Calculation of depreciation and amortization
    • Answering tax-related questions of the fund managers
    • Answering questions of tax authorities, particularly during audits
  • Provides oversight and sets priorities for a team responsible for preparing and maintaining Real Estate related tax and regulatory records, returns, and reports for external clients.
  • Assists clients with development of tax and other regulatory strategies and makes recommendations for compliance with regulations.
  • Manages the performance of teams and sets area priorities.
  • Designs metrics customized to respective clients and monitors work output to ensure client satisfaction.
  • Presents analysis and tax and other regulatory strategy recommendations to clients pertaining to regulatory changes or client-specific fund changes.
  • Oversees allocation of resources across multiple teams and processes for conducting calculations and reporting on behalf of clients.
  • Partners with Corporate Tax to monitor the regulatory landscape.
  • Leads development of resulting recommended process changes.
  • Recruits, directs, motivates and develops staff, maximizing their individual contribution, their professional growth and their ability to function effectively with their colleagues as a team.
  • Manages a team of Tax Reporting and Compliance professionals and support staff.
  • Responsible for the achievement of multiple team goals and objectives, talent management and supervision of team members.
To be successful in this role, we're seeking the following:
  • Bachelors degree in a business discipline or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • 7-10 years of total work experience (preferably at a German Real Estate Kapitalverwaltungsgesellschaft or at a Real Estate tax compliance team of a tax consultancy firm) and 1-3 years of management experience preferred.
  • Experience in Real Estate tax reporting and analysis preferred.
  • Language requirement; English and German
