The successful candidate will partner day-to-day with our external service providers, the US Finance team, and internal stakeholders on all the technical finance topics. This role is within the Finance Organization as we embark on the next chapter of the Blueprint Medicines’ story.

They will start ASAP as contractor with a 1-year contract, with the possibility for contract extension.  Reporting into Senior Manager, International Finance and based in Amsterdam, Netherlands, the successful candidate should have strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills and be able to support financial processes effectively across the International Region.

 

What will you do?

Technical Finance - Controlling/Accounting/Reporting/Compliance

  • Support European Technical Finance Operations and work closely with Finance team and external service providers to support the USGAAP accounting, statutory reporting in Local GAAP and compliance activities (Direct and Indirect Taxes + Other reporting obligations) across the international region (NL, DE, UK, ES, IT, FR, CH). Collaborate with the International and US Finance teams on the month-end accounting close, consolidation and SEC reporting.
  • Lead the month-end close process and activities for the Region by preparing, reviewing and recording US GAAP accounts' journal entries and performing account reconciliations on time and in full.
  • Provide essential support during internal and external financial audits for the International Region, including SOX (Process Design and internal controls implementation/executions) for the legal entities in Europe, as well as on all audit cycles (SOX, USGAAP, Statutory Accounts)
  • Serve as the primary contact for local accounting offices, coordinating Local Statutory activities, addressing daily matters related to accounting, financial reporting, and invoicing.
  • Support with Cash Management in a close collaboration with the US Treasury team including cash forecast, bank reconciliations to validate the accuracy of financial transactions.
  • Manage the reconciliation and recording of monthly accruals to maintain accurate financial records.
  • Take ownership of the preparation, reconciliation, and booking of payroll-related journal entries and payment preparation.
  • Prepare and reconcile management accounting packs, leveraging Blackline (internal SOX software), for the International region to support decision-making processes.
  • Support Blackline implementation, maintenance and enhancement.
  • Help with issue resolutions and process improvements.  Ad hoc requests based on needs.

 

What minimum qualifications do we require?

  • Master’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
  • A European CPA would be a plus.
  • 5-7 years of experience in Accounting/Finance/Controlling, previous experience in audit and/or pharma would be a plus.

 

What additional qualifications will make you a stronger candidate?

  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills. Maturity, professionalism, and high level of discretion is required
  • Strong finance background including US GAAP + Local GAAP and experience in Internal controls / SOX environment
  • Ability and desire to work independently and as a team member
  • Demonstrated proactive and solutions-oriented approach toward business problems and process improvements
  • Well-organized, flexible and ability to handle different priorities at a time – result driven and strategic thinker
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Pragmatic, detail-oriented and able to perform in a high-pressure environment. Ability to meet deadlines, curious with a can-do attitude. Attention to detail and quality focused
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office is a must and Oracle will be a plus.
  • English is a must, another EU language would be a plus
