Introduction to Multi-Asset Strategies and Solutions

The Multi-Asset Strategies & Solutions (MASS) team is the investment group at the heart of BlackRock's portfolio construction, asset allocation, and active management ecosystem. MASS draws on the full toolkit of the firm's index, factor, and alpha-seeking investment capabilities to deliver investment outcomes and ground-breaking alpha insights. MASS constructs active asset allocation strategies and whole portfolio solutions across a wide spectrum of commingled funds, separate accounts, model portfolios, and outsourcing solutions in the wealth and institutional channels.

Position Overview

The Solutions Strategy team works within MASS to coordinate and lead the implementation of whole portfolio engagements and similar assignments. Rooted in BlackRock's longstanding culture of problem-solving, the Solutions Strategy team collaborates across the firm to ensure outstanding investment implementation, solutions structuring and platform development, building consistency across the range of investment services.

We are seeking a motivated individual to join our growing EMEA Solutions team based in Budapest. The role will require partnership with numerous commercial, investments and operational teams in order to best coordinate and support fast-paced growth of the business. The successful candidate may help support a range of strategies including outsourced portfolio solutions, customized sub-advised mandates, multi-manager funds and advisory model solutions for our institutional and wealth clients.

A successful team member will be someone, who is curious, innovative, a problem solver and challenges the status quo by using technology to bring efficiency and scale to MASS solutions.

Role Responsibilities

  • Focused on Wealth clients, support the growth and implementation of outsourced solutions mandates including portfolio solutions managed for Family Office and Pension Schemes, multi-manager funds and model portfolios.
  • Have clear accountability for deliverables within the team, manage day to day workflows assigned to you working alongside other members of the team.
  • Project management of new client onboardings and change management activities collaborating with our internal partners within MASS and across the platform. This includes
    • Working closely with portfolio managers, Client CIOs (Chief Investment Officer) and tech and operations teams for updates to the Aladdin and portfolio management set-up.
    • Applying portfolio strategy views to legal documentation through drafting guidelines for investment management agreements and instruction letters
  • Assist with client and/or consultant enquiries related to performance, attribution or risk, using Aladdin tools in addition to conventional financial concepts to undertake detailed analysis and communicate to client and/or consultant in succinct and impactful way.
  • Provide SME (Subject Matter Expert) input to internal teams such as Reporting and Performance to ensure client requirements can be supported. This includes determining the most useful KPIs for clients, understanding the key drivers of performance and risk in the portfolio.
  • Understand and enhance the complex ecosystem of Investment implementation spanning Operational, Regulatory and Investment structure of Multi-Manager and Pension Portfolios.
  • Investigate and adapt to most recent technology, innovate on tools and analytics to drive scale and consistency across processes.

Experience Required

  • Minimum of 3 years' proven experience within financial services or asset management, preferably across multiple asset classes and investment subject areas
  • Solid understanding of financial markets, investments (i.e. Fixed Income, Equities, Alternatives) and key financial concepts (such as asset allocation, risk analytics, performance, attribution etc.)
  • Outstanding relationship management skills to build and maintain collaborative partnerships regionally. Strong interpersonal, organizational and influencing skills, ability to engage partners, to understand change readiness, balance differences and build consensus;
  • Fluent in English with excellent communication skills, capable of articulating complex problems in a simplistic manner, able to connect with multiple audiences;
  • Inclination for process design, able to handle various projects simultaneously, remain calm when multi-tasking
  • Strong teammate who takes a collaborative and cooperative approach to tasks, experienced working with multiple partners to deliver on projects on time and to a high standard, but can also work independently.
  • Achievement of or working towards CFA, CAIA and/or FRM or equivalent qualifications is encouraged but not required
  • Knowledge of Tableau, VBA, SQL, and/or Python is a strong plus
  • Strong interest to learn about and use Aladdin; a familiarity with Aladdin is an advantage
