Role Description:
We are looking to hire a portfolio manager to join our growing onshore China fixed income team. The successful candidate will be an integral part of an expanding China fixed income business, managing assets for both institutional and retail investors.
Given the rapid growth in the asset class, there will be ample opportunity to gain exposure to a broad range of investment-related functions. Also, as the Asian team is an integral part of the Global Fixed Income team, there is considerable exposure to our investment colleagues elsewhere around the globe.
Key Responsibilities:
- Working within Global Fixed Income, primarily responsible for managing onshore active portfolios
- Generation and Implementation of views on China local currency rates and credit including (but not limited to): duration, curve, and country allocation view
- Market reconnaissance and surveillance
- Ensuring compliance with investment guidelines and other client and regulatory restrictions
- Regular meetings, calls and written communication with both internal and external stakeholders
- Participation in Asian and global investment meetings
- Maintain and develop investment processes, tools and models.
- Provide insights to product strategists and investment strategists on China local markets
- Build strong working relationship with the onshore analysts and portfolio managers and broader team
- Partner with the Product Strategy team in supporting client pitches and requests
Skills & Qualifications:
- Degree with a major in economics, finance or other quantitative discipline; CFA or finance-related Masters' degree preferred
- Minimum 5 years' experience in China onshore fund management companies with 3 years' Fixed Income portfolio management experience. Background from bank trading desk and/or credit research are preferred.
- Solid understanding of China fixed income markets including in-depth knowledge of credit market dynamics and individual names as well as strong knowledge of China primary market issuance
- Strong knowledge of China macro environment
- Understanding of portfolio construction techniques and key risk metrics, with an ability to build and maintain portfolios to meet a wide range of client risk requirements
- Good knowledge of fixed income derivatives instruments
- Possess strong communication skills in both Mandarin and English (written and spoken)
- Proven success of partnering with distribution channels to build AUM
- Client facing experience and strong presentation skills with the ability to clearly articulate investment views
- Expertise in WIND and Hundsun
