Job Overview:
BlackRock's Fundamental Equities Emerging Markets & Asia Core team is seeking a Research Analyst with primary responsibility of conducting independent research for Latin America coverage. They will be based in Hong Kong but should be prepared to travel at times to attend company meetings, trade shows, and conferences as required. The position is a compelling opportunity for a research analyst with demonstrable skills for fundamental research, financial analysis and knowledge of corporate business models. The analyst we seek will have an appreciation of investing with a strong focus on fundamentally driven returns. Working closely with other members of the team and the wider firm, this individual will conduct detailed fundamental research, make recommendations for inclusion of stocks into multiple strategies, as well as closely monitoring those companies while they are held in the funds.
The successful candidate will also be able to leverage a well-respected and successful global asset management network within BlackRock and access world-class technology systems, support, and risk management capabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct fundamental research, including financial analysis, meeting management, industry analysis, conferences, and interactions across BlackRock equity teams.
- Generate long-term, high conviction investment ideas for concentrated portfolios with particular focus on strong business models, compounding returns and reliable cash flows.
- Contribute to the team's discussions of individual ideas, setting conviction within the wider research group and hence impacting portfolio strategies.
- Being an ambassador for the Emerging Markets & Asia Core team, Fundamental Equities platform, and BlackRock as a whole.
Key Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years' experience in Latin America fundamental research
- Required skills in Excel, and ability to use Bloomberg and Tableau (or other data modelling tools).
- Skills to include comparison of both corporate business models and share prices over the long-term.
- An understanding of all financial statements, the key drivers of shareholder return and multiple valuation techniques.
- Strong business sense: the candidate must possess an understanding of business models, industry dynamics, and competitive analysis.
- Independent thinking coupled with a proven ability to work with (and make an impact in) an established team.
- The ability to clearly articulate high conviction, well-thought-out, and supported investment ideas in both large and small group settings.
- The candidate must also demonstrate the ability to work more broadly within an organization where information-sharing is critical to the success of all teams across asset classes.
