What are Aladdin Data and Process Engineering
Data is at the heart of Aladdin and increasingly the ability to consume, store, analyze and gain insight from data has become a key component of our competitive advantage. Aladdin Data team is responsible for the data ecosystem within BlackRock. Our goal is to build and maintain a leading-edge data platform that provides highly available, consistent data of the highest quality for all users of the platform, notably investors, operations teams, and data scientists. We focus on evolving our platform to deliver exponential scale to the firm, powering the future growth of Aladdin.
Process Engineering engineers design and build large scale applications, data pipelines, process integrations for computation processes, and distributed systems. They partner with data and analytics experts to deliver high quality analytical and derived data to our consumers.

Responsibilities include:
- Collaborate with team members in a multi-office, multi-country environment.
- Deliver high efficiency, high availability, concurrent and fault tolerant software systems.
- Work with product management and business users to define the roadmap for the product.
- Design and develop innovative solutions to complex problems, identifying issues and roadblocks.
- Apply validated quality software engineering practices through all phases of development.
- Ensure resilience and stability through quality code reviews, unit, regression and user acceptance testing, dev ops and level two production support.
- Be a leader with vision and a partner in brainstorming solutions for team productivity, efficiency, guiding and motivating others.
- Drive a strong culture by bringing principles of inclusion and diversity to the team and setting the tone through specific recruiting, management actions and employee engagement.
- Providing L2 or L3 support for technical and/or operational issues.
Qualifications:
- B.E./ B.TECH./ MCA or any other relevant engineering degree from a reputed university.
Skills and Experience:
- Over 4 years of hands-on experience in software development with a strong foundation in Core Java and related technologies.
- Proficient in object-oriented programming (OOP) and design patterns, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality, maintainable, and scalable software solutions.
- Experienced in developing robust enterprise applications using Java, Spring Framework, Spring Boot, Hibernate, and Microservices architecture.
- Skilled in working with both relational databases (e.g., MySQL, Sybase) and NoSQL technologies (e.g., Cassandra, Redis).
- In-depth understanding of concurrent programming, with experience designing high-throughput, high-availability, and fault-tolerant distributed systems.
- Proficient in modern development tools and practices including Git, Maven, CI/CD pipelines, unit and integration testing frameworks, and mocking tools.
- Strong capabilities in software architecture design, with a focus on test-driven development (TDD) and clean code principles.
- Excellent analytical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills, enabling effective collaboration across cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrates a strong interest in finance and investment processes, with the ability to translate complex business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
Nice to Have & Growth Opportunities
- Familiarity with high-scale distributed technologies such as Kafka, MongoDB, Apache Ignite, and Redis.
- Exposure to building microservices and APIs using REST, Kafka, or gRPC.
- Experience developing distributed applications using SQL (e.g., MS SQL, Sybase) and NoSQL databases (e.g., Cassandra, Redis).
- Practical understanding of cloud-native design patterns applied to event-driven microservice architectures.
- Hands-on experience or interest in working with cloud platforms like Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
- Familiarity with cloud deployment tools such as Docker, Ansible, Terraform, and Kubernetes.
- Exposure to AI/ML-driven projects or experience in an AI research environment.
- Understanding of DevOps practices, observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana), and performance tuning in distributed systems.

Our hybrid work model
BlackRock's hybrid work model is designed to enable a culture of collaboration and apprenticeship that enriches the experience of our employees, while supporting flexibility for all. Employees are currently required to work at least 4 days in the office per week, with the flexibility to work from home 1 day a week.
