Standard & Governance Lead is to strengthen our compliance department amid the high ethical standards and regulatory compliance required to operate in the pharmaceutical industry. As a partner of the management team, this position will be responsible for improving and establishing the internal compliance risk system and promoting compliance based on global standards.
Main responsibilities of this role are to:
- Plan and provide support and training to improve the internal compliance system.
- Provide advice on the appropriateness of events and materials based on national laws, regulations, industry rules and global policies.
- Support the conclusion of contracts with suppliers in each division.
- Support global compliance programs (monitoring, etc.).
- Prepare and support internal audits.
- Assist in drafting, reviewing and negotiating contracts.
- Conduct research and advice on legal consultations.

This role will be based in Japan affiliate office in Tokyo and will report to the GM, Japan.
Key accountabilities of this role are to:
- Propose compliance training scheme, contents, as well as ideal mindset necessary for employees and the company through ascertaining the current business situation of the company and the industry.
- Provide solutions to business challenges and address concerns in collaboration with internal clients, utilizing deep knowledge and understanding on internal rules and Japanese laws and regulations.
Identify internal issues, make proposals for improvement, and strengthen employee mindset on compliance through monitoring efforts and internal audit support activities.
Minimum Education Requirements:
- Minimum of a bachelor's degree
- Preferrable if majored in law or completed a law school
- Preferrable if having experience of studying abroad in an English-speaking country or having pharmaceutical knowledge
Minimum Experience Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of business experience in legal or compliance division
- Minimum 3 years of business experience advising pharmaceutical companies on industry rules, relevant laws, and trade agreements
- Business-level English (listening, speaking, reading, and writing)
- Preferrable if having people management experience
Knowledge & Skills
Required knowledge and skills are to:
- Possess legal knowledge of the pharmaceutical business, including applicable laws and industry rules, and utilize them and own ethics standards to provide appropriate interpretation, professional judgment and advice to internal clients on the compliance matter.
- Demonstrate impartial and objective observation in the business scenes.
Guide logical and sustainable solutions to stakeholders through active involvement and collaboration with them.
