Sr Manager Financial Operations (FinOps)
About This Role
The Sr Manager FinOps plays a critical role in managing key financial processes for the IT Infrastructure & Operations (I&O) organization. The Sr Manager FinOps will work across I&O to drive the strategic objectives of the organization by supporting all aspects of financial planning and analysis. In addition, this role will focus on enhancing the cloud financial operations practice for I&O. This will entail leading the development of processes, guidelines and standards to optimize costs and spending in the cloud.
What You'll Do
- Lead and oversee annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting processes. Work with internal stakeholders to create robust financial plans.
- Partner with finance on monthly close activities. Ensure accruals are completed, analyze variances and develop/maintain management reports to communicate financial performance.
- Present results and highlight risks and opportunities to I&O leadership to ensure informed decisions can be made about activities throughout the year.
- Work with I&O leadership to prioritize spend to within financial targets and support the development and tracking of cost optimization initiatives.
- Facilitate leadership reviews of budgets and of quarterly results vs. plan, including updating materials for monthly CIO functional reviews.
- Act as a consultant in building the financial components of project business cases.
- Establish and manage I&O's cloud financial operations (FinOps) practice.

- Partner with the Infrastructure Services team to manage cloud-based financial accounts, including monitoring usage, managing budgets, and reducing cloud costs by identifying opportunities to lower expenses and optimize usage.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders across the organization, including IT, finance, and project leaders, to ensure alignment on cloud strategy, usage, and financial management.
- Drive continuous process improvement to strive for automation and improved accuracy wherever possible.
- Review and update infrastructure cost models.
Who You Are
You have demonstrated your abilities in a financial planning and analysis role supporting an IT organization. You are interested in technology and would be open to learning about cloud computing and obtaining a FinOps certification. You are able to see the big picture but can also work at the detailed level required to effectively deliver results. You are self-starter that can identify and seize opportunities to improve processes and optimize costs. You are analytical and are passionate about using data to drive business decisions.
Required Skills
- 7+ years of experience in Finance, preferably with some experience supporting an IT function
- Strong financial acumen Experience with financial forecasting, budgeting and results reporting at an enterprise level
- Strong analytic abilities and business acumen, including ability to tell an impactful story leveraging data, metrics, and visualization to establish recommendations and convey conclusions
- Working knowledge of FinOps best practices
- Experience with reporting tools and dashboards (e.g. Power BI)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- BS/BA or University degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or other relevant background
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity w/Oracle, Hyperion and Business Objects
- Experience with cost optimization practices in the cloud
- Experience with AWS and/or MS Azure billing and cost management tools and processes
- Existing FinOps Certified Practitioner certification
- Advanced degree or qualification preferred (e.g. CPA, MBA)
