About This Role
As a Sr. Engineer I, Automation you will join the Automation & MES team at Biogen's RTP Bio site, where your expertise will support both operational excellence and project-driven goals. You will provide technical leadership for Syncade Manufacturing Execution System (MES), collaborating cross-functionally to identify, implement, and maintain solutions that integrate seamlessly with critical systems such as DeltaV (DCS), PI (Data Historian), Oracle, CMMS, Veeva, Labware (LIMS), and others as needed. Acting as a subject matter expert for Syncade, you'll ensure consistent application of design strategies across platforms and collaborate closely with various departments to meet site needs effectively. This role will be pivotal in driving automation strategies to optimize manufacturing operations, enhance system reliability, and align with the site's long-term objectives.

What You'll Do
- Collaborate with the Syncade and data systems teams to ensure deliverables are aligned to achieve operational milestones.
- Partner with Process Owners and Manufacturing staff to design and implement recipes that meet engineering and manufacturing requirements.
- Author, review, and approve MES and DeltaV documentation, including lifecycle and project documents, procedures, and work instructions.
- Define validation strategies in collaboration with Quality representatives and ensure consistency in execution across disciplines.
- Support system validation and implement change controls with adherence to established procedures.
- Perform troubleshooting and execute change controls for DeltaV and Syncade systems during testing and operations.
- Identify and implement opportunities for optimization in design, programming, and testing activities within the scope of the automation team.
- Maintain training, set professional development goals, and track progress effectively.
- Collaborate across departments to ensure systems are maintained and continuously improved to meet evolving site needs.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Electrical, Chemical, Mechanical or other related Engineering field).
- At least 4 years of experience authoring Syncade recipes.
- 4+ years of experience in a large-scale Biotech or pharmaceutical manufacturing environment, directly supporting manufacturing operations.
- Strong understanding of system validation, change controls, and troubleshooting within MES and DCS environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with DeltaV or a strong interest in learning DeltaV.
- Familiarity with cross-functional system integrations, including PI, Oracle, CMMS, Veeva, and Labware (LIMS).

Additional Information
The base compensation range for this role is: $91,000.00-$118,000.00
Base salary offered is determined through an analytical approach utilizing a combination of factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills & experience, job location, and internal equity.
