About This Role:

Biogen is seeking a Scientist II in Analytical Development to join the thriving Small Molecule Analytical Development team. As a Scientist II, you'll be at the forefront of supporting the development and qualification of analytical methods, playing a pivotal role in the progression of small molecule drug candidates through their development lifecycle. This is a lab-based role onsite at our Headquarters in Cambridge, MA.

What You'll Do:

  • Develop and qualify analytical methods for small molecule drug candidates, adhering to quality, regulatory, and technical benchmarks.
  • Conduct routine and complex analyses of drug substances and products using HPLC, GC, spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, and dissolution techniques.
  • Analyze experimental data, interpret results, and ensure documentation aligns with good documentation practices.
  • Collaborate with senior scientists and cross-functional teams to facilitate drug development from preclinical to late-stage.
  • Generate technical reports, contribute to regulatory submissions, and prepare documentation for filings.
  • Assist in the resolution of analytical problems, providing insight into method development and validation.
  • Remain updated on analytical techniques and industry standards to enhance methodological approaches.
  • Ensure timely completion of experiments, provide project updates, and maintain comprehensive records of all activities.

Required Skills:

  • Ph.D. in analytical chemistry, pharmaceutical sciences, or a related discipline with 0 - 4 years of post-graduate experience.
  • Proficiency in analytical techniques such as LC, GC, dissolution, MS, NMR, and spectroscopy for drug substance and product analysis.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and troubleshooting capabilities, with a strong aptitude for experimental design and independent operation.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with a talent for presenting data in a clear, concise manner.
  • A collaborative spirit, comfortable working in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Meticulous attention to detail in experimental procedures, data analysis, and documentation.
  • Self-driven, quick to learn, and a steadfast contributor to team success.

Preferred Skills:

  • Understanding of regulatory guidelines (ICH, FDA, EMA) pertaining to small molecule analytical development.
  • Familiarity with data analysis software, such as Empower.
  • Experience in method validation and conducting stability studies.

Additional Information

The base compensation range for this role is: $114,000.00-$152,000.00

Base salary offered is determined through an analytical approach utilizing a combination of factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills & experience, job location, and internal equity.
