About This Role:
- Oversee the implementation and ongoing maturation of processes supporting preclinical portfolio prioritization and differential resourcing of programs within the Research pipeline.
- Leadership and thought partnership for the implementation of risk identification and management frameworks for the Research portfolio and programs (e.g. heat maps, Chain of Translatability, preclinical risk register), working with stakeholders to ensure consistent use to support team planning and governance decision making.
- Partner with the governance operations function in SPOQ to refine the preclinical governance operating model and ensure consistent use of portfolio management tools in governance decision-making.
- Create and update preclinical portfolio summaries based on information and decisions from project teams and portfolio governance bodies.
- Ensure that Biogen drug discovery stage gate documents provide clear guidance to teams on prioritized activities and reflect best practices for managing and discharging risk in the preclinical portfolio.
- Lead or support other key strategic initiatives in Research related to portfolio strategy and optimization.

Required Skills:
Employer will accept a Master's degree (or foreign equivalent) in a scientific discipline, Business Administration, or related field and 8 years of progressive experience in the biopharma industry, in the job offered or in a Research Portfolio Management Lead - related occupation.
- 2 years previous experience in portfolio management, portfolio analytics, or portfolio governance.
Demonstrable experience with each of the following:
- Demonstrated understanding of drug discovery and preclinical research subfunctions.
- Processes for portfolio and program risk assessment and prioritization.
- Communicating effectively with and influencing senior stakeholders regarding portfolio governance or management tools.
- Successfully managing multiple portfolio management, analytics, or governance initiatives simultaneously in a dynamic environment.
- Implementing the operational cadence of portfolio management, analytics, or governance processes.
- Generating and implementing a plan for regular updates to communicate the status, timelines, and decisions of portfolio programs.
- Familiarity with PowerBI, Tableau, MS Project, or other similar business productivity software for portfolio management, dashboard creation, and visualization.

The base compensation range for this role is: $159,000.00-$219,000.00
Base salary offered is determined through an analytical approach utilizing a combination of factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills & experience, job location, and internal equity.
