About This Role
The Payments Manager, Clinical Financial Operations supports the ongoing process improvements and implementation of best practices to optimize the management (i.e., operational consistency, compliance, quality, and efficiency) of the process.
The Payments Manager, Clinical Financial Operations, provides study level support from the trial planning stage, as well as throughout the lifecycle of a clinical trial, providing planning, payment strategy, resolution of payment issues and maintaining oversight of the payment vendor to ensure compliant and timely site execution of site payments.
What You'll Do
- Responsible for relationship management and performance oversight for Biogen's payment vendor.
- Ensure alignment with study teams, budget hub, SVT and EDC functional groups on payment triggering, reconciliation and recoup best practices.
- Oversight of investigator payments made by payments vendor to ensure timeliness, accuracy, and compliance with terms of CTA and applicable laws and regulations and Biogen policies.
- Develop site payment processes to ensure effectiveness and compliance with contractual commitments. Liaise with affected Biogen internal teams to ensure alignment.
- Development of metrics reporting and review to support process improvement efforts.
- Alignment with Biogen Finance teams regarding vendor funding policies and study specific needs. Oversight of the study funding process to ensure funds are available to the payment vendor in a timely manner.
- Develop an understanding of our vendor framework and escalation pathway, build relationships with the vendor teams supporting payments and key contacts to ensure smooth issue resolution.
- Develop an understanding of data and reporting capabilities of vendors to be able to resolve site and study team queries, support data needs of Biogen internal teams and provide updates in a timely manner.
- Participate in preparation of quarterly business reviews, serve as subject matter expert in audits and inspections, assist management in identifying areas of improvement based off of KPIs and Metrics.
- May have direct reports and/or contractor oversight as needs evolve in the operating model.

Who You Are
You are knowledgeable about payments and willing to mitigate issues in a collaborative environment.
Required Skills
- A minimum of 8 years' experience in the biotechnology/pharmaceutical industry within the investigator payments space and fully proficient in project management.
- Must have experience in investigator payments and have a thorough understanding of relevant laws, regulations, standards, and FDA/EMA guidelines.
- Excellent analytical skills, conflict resolution, decision making skills, communication (oral and written) and presentation skills.
- Strong organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize needs and handle a high volume of tasks within a given timeframe.

Additional Information
The base compensation range for this role is: $113,000.00-$151,000.00
Base salary offered is determined through an analytical approach utilizing a combination of factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills & experience, job location, and internal equity.
