Manager, Research Portfolio Reporting Lead
About This Role
The Manager, Research Portfolio Reporting Lead is a key member of the Research Strategy & Operations department, responsible for leading the entry, maintenance, and continuous improvement of integrated timelines across the Research portfolio, spanning from Exploratory Research through to IND filing. This role ensures the accurate and timely capture of critical program milestones and dependencies in enterprise portfolio systems including Smartsheet and Planisware, enabling real-time visibility into project progress and portfolio health. Acting as a technical subject matter expert, the Portfolio Reporting Lead works closely with the governance and portfolio management team, program leaders, project managers, functional stakeholders, and Finance to generate timelines and ensure accurate reporting into project management systems and dashboards, including serving as our internal subject matter expert for Smartsheet. The role will also be responsible for creating/improving/maintaining online systems (i.e. Teams, Sharepoint) to ensure executive leaders can easily access up-to-date information. In addition to core responsibilities, this role will also support timeline management for targeted portfolio-related business deliverables such as preparation for scientific advisory boards and internal portfolio reviews. The successful candidate will bring strong analytical and communication skills, a proactive mindset, and the ability to work effectively across a complex, matrixed R&D organization.
What You'll Do
- Establish and maintain integrated project timelines for all Research programs
- Collaborate closely with Research Program Leads (RPLs), Development Asset Leads (DALs) and Project Managers (PMs), and to ensure accurate sequencing and alignment of milestones and inflection points.
- Enter and QC comprehensive, cross-functional timelines in Smartsheet and Planisware.
- Ensure program plans remain current, with dates and durations consistently updated to reflect program status and changes, and that the data in Smartsheet and Planisware are accurate and consistent across systems.
- Communicate key timeline data and deliverables across internal stakeholders, supporting strategic planning and financial forecasting.
- Serve as the key liaison for timeline reporting, ensuring timely communication with program teams, governance, finance and portfolio management.
- Communicate updates to the Portfolio Management Lead routinely to ensure proper pull-through of data into dashboards and reports, enabling tailored visualizations for strategic decision making at the executive level.
- Partner with Finance and Research Portfolio Management to align portfolio reporting with planning assumptions and forecasts, informing Annual Operating Plan (AOP) and mid-year budget cycles.
- Champion continuous improvement and system optimization initiatives
- Identify and implement improvements in planning practices, data governance, and system configuration to increase efficiency, accuracy, and usability of planning tools.
- Act as a subject matter expert (SME) and internal advocate for tool adoption and planning best practices across the Research organization, including serving as the internal owner for maintaining and enhancing our Smartsheet reporting environment.

You are an effective collaborator across cross-functional, matrixed teams with strong written and verbal communication. You are proactive, independent, and able to adapt to fast paced environments.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in sciences or engineering with 5+ years of experience in a biotechnology or pharmaceutical setting.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with Smartsheet and Planisware.
- Skilled in timeline template creation and maintenance.
- Comfortable with large data sets, QC, and resolving data issues.
- Proficient in maintaining complex project plans, including milestones, dependencies, and critical paths.
- Able to manage multiple workstreams with shifting priorities.
- Experience in managing initiatives supporting executive leadership teams.
- Solid understanding of early-stage R&D through IND filing, including cross-functional deliverables.
- Familiar with roles and handoffs across Research, Manufacturing, Regulatory, and Clinical.
- Experienced in generating portfolio reports and dashboards for leadership.
- Strong attention to detail and awareness of data quality's impact on decisions and planning.

Additional Information
The base compensation range for this role is: $114,000.00-$152,000.00
Base salary offered is determined through an analytical approach utilizing a combination of factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills & experience, job location, and internal equity.
