About this role

As the Head of Mature Products, you will lead the strategic and operational management of Biogen's mature MS (Multiple Sclerosis) brands (ex-US). You will ensure the sustainability of patient access and profitability while aligning with Biogen's goal of reducing resource intensity and maximizing revenue. Your role is pivotal in extending the lifecycle of these brands, identifying cost-saving opportunities, and balancing patient needs with financial impact. As part of the Alzheimer's & Dementia Franchise, you will collaborate across functions to maintain competitive positioning and explore new avenues for growth. This position is integral to our mission of delivering innovative solutions that enhance patient lives.

What You'll Do

Strategic Portfolio Optimization

  • Develop and execute lean portfolio and product strategies to extend the lifecycle of Biogen's established MS brands ex-US.
  • Lead a cross functional expert team to sustain patient access and profitability identifying cost-saving opportunities across manufacturing, distribution, and promotional spend.
  • Lead brand rationalization and sunset planning where appropriate, balancing patient needs and financial impact.

Revenue Maximization

  • Drive initiatives to stabilize and grow revenue amid generic competition and market evolution.
  • Collaborate with Market Access and Pricing teams to ensure competitive positioning and reimbursement.
  • Explore geographic expansion and new commercial channels to unlock incremental value.
  • Oversee financial assessments of diagnostic/JCV testing to enhance brand differentiation.

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Partner with Regulatory, Medical Affairs, Development and Supply Chain to ensure operational continuity and compliance.
  • Align with Finance and Commercial Operations to monitor KPIs and optimize resource allocation.
  • Work with CE&O to support field teams with targeted tools for localization and messaging that reinforce brand value

Lifecycle & Risk Management

  • Lead post-patent strategies including generic landscape assessments and brand retention plans.
  • Proactively manage risks associated with pricing, regulatory changes, and supply chain dynamics.

Efficiency & Innovation

  • Champion data-driven decision-making and the adoption of digital tools to streamline operations.
  • Contribute to Biogen's Fit for Growth model by identifying opportunities for reinvestment and divestiture.

Who You Are

You are a strategic and resilient leader with proven experience managing established or sunset-phase portfolios. You excel at navigating complexity and driving results within highly matrixed environments. With strong business acumen and deep expertise in lifecycle management, you know how to protect value, optimize resources, and sustain performance as products evolve from growth to maturity.

You are comfortable leading through change, stopping projects/workstreams that are no longer fit for purpose, influencing diverse stakeholders, and developing business cases that balance cost efficiency with strategic optimization. Your pragmatic yet forward-thinking approach enables you to guide Biogen's MS portfolio through its next chapter - ensuring continuity, and a committment to quality, compliance, and a lasting impact for patients worldwide.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Business, or related field (MBA or advanced degree preferred).
  • 10+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry, ideally with exposure to neurology or other complex therapeutic areas.
  • Demonstrated success managing mature brands under resource constraints.
  • Demonstrated success managing mature brands or established portfolios under resource constraints.
  • Strong financial acumen and strategic mindset.
  • Proven ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders.
  • Experience driving change and fostering collaboration across complex organizations.
  • Track record of transforming portfolio simplification into opportunities for innovation and operational excellence.
  • Deep commitment to patient-centric innovation and Biogen's mission.
