As a Communications and External Affairs Graduate, you will be integral to our organization's External Affairs team, driving both internal and external communications. Collaborating with various business units, you will support the development of policy and public affairs programs, enhancing our communication strategies. This role is designed to initiate your career in Communications and External Affairs, offering a hands-on experience in digital communications, policy shaping, and employee relations. You will engage in media and policy monitoring, contributing to real-world projects that impact the organization. This is a hybrid role requiring 50% office attendance each week at our Maidenhead offices, with a planned start date for the beginning of September 2025, for an initial 12 month period.
What You'll Do:
- Support and lead internal communications projects, working closely with the human resources team to develop engaging communications across the business.
- Perform daily media and policy monitoring, analyzing developments in the UK & Ireland political environment, and sharing weekly reports with senior members.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including patient groups and industry partners, to create actionable projects and goals.
- Develop content for digital channels, including our corporate website and LinkedIn page.
- Analyze trends and information from the external environment to aid in the development of company policies and strategies.
- Prepare detailed research papers on policy interests relevant to the business.
- Provide support to senior members during external engagement events, including developing research documents and speaking notes.
Who You Are: You are a proactive individual with a keen interest in communications and public affairs. Your ability to connect with stakeholders from diverse cultural backgrounds makes you an excellent team player. You possess strong written and verbal communication skills in business English and have an aptitude for project management. You handle confidential information with discretion and approach learning with enthusiasm. Your background in video/photo editing and basic design skills enhances your capability to contribute to dynamic projects.
Required Skills:
- On track to achieve strong academic results in a relevant subject.
- Experience in video/photo editing and basic design (E.G. Canva or similar tools).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint; MS Sway experience is highly desirable.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in business English.
- Ability to relate to stakeholders at all levels and from different cultural backgrounds.
- Project management skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
Preferred Skills:
- Relevant work experience by way of placement.
