About this Role

As an Executive Director, Development Asset Lead (DAL), you will serve as a senior leader within Biogen's Development organization. You'll manage and mentor a subset of Development Asset Leads (DALs), who are responsible for leading cross-functional development teams for preclinical and clinical-stage assets across the portfolio. This role requires strategic leadership, deep knowledge of drug development, and the ability to drive high-impact decisions in a complex matrixed environment.

You may also serve directly as a DAL on one or more high-priority assets, accountable for the creation and execution of integrated asset plans (IAPs) that guide program development, investment, and lifecycle strategy. You will work closely with senior governance forums, functional leaders, and other key stakeholders to ensure alignment, execution, and value creation across Biogen's portfolio.

What You'll Do

  • Lead and mentor a high-performing team of DALs to deliver high-impact results across the asset lifecycle. Fostering consistency, best practices, and high standards in asset leadership. Deliver high-impact results across the asset lifecycle.
  • Guide asset strategies from preclinical development through loss of exclusivity.
  • Define, own, and execute integrated asset plans (IAPs) with associated budgets and timelines.
  • Align asset goals with franchise/TA strategy, incorporating regulatory, clinical, and commercial perspectives. Drive execution of IND-enabling, early development, and pivotal trials.
  • Drive integration across functions (e.g., clinical, regulatory, CMC, commercial) to ensure comprehensive development strategies. Lead integration of MPP/TPP, clinical pharmacology, biomarker, clinical development strategy and risk mitigations into overarching Integrated Asset Plan
  • Represent assets at senior-level portfolio governance forums and partner with internal leaders including PDC leads and Research/Development Unit heads.
  • Partner with Program Management to drive the timely and efficient execution of integrated asset plans.
  • Ensure alignment with regulatory requirements (U.S. and global).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; Advanced degree preferred (PhD, MD, PharmD, MS, MBA).
  • 13+ years in drug development within pharma or biotech with broad drug development knowledge across all phases of clinical development and emphasizing how functional and cross-functional deliverables integrate for the development and execution of an overall asset development strategy.
  • Proven experience managing people and leading cross-functional development teams with an ability to navigate change and challenges with agility and persistence.
  • Successful track record of clinical development planning and execution aligned with business and therapeutic strategies.
  • Strong track record of influencing and aligning senior level stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience communicating value, risks, and trade-offs effectively to enable sound portfolio decisions.

Additional Information

The base compensation range for this role is: $308,000.00-$435,000.00

Base salary offered is determined through an analytical approach utilizing a combination of factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills & experience, job location, and internal equity.
