About This Role:

The Director, Alliance Management is a pivotal role within Biogen, dedicated to establishing and nurturing successful partnerships with our global collaborators. Situated within the Alliance Management team, you will work closely with cross-functional colleagues, ensuring seamless collaboration with both internal and partner stakeholders. Your primary responsibility will be to manage alliances throughout their entire lifecycle, contributing significantly to their success and ensuring alignment with Biogen's strategic objectives. You will oversee stakeholder and process management for alliance governance while also playing a crucial role in conflict resolution. Additionally, you will participate in alliance design and facilitate the execution of collaboration agreements, ensuring best-in-class practices are developed and implemented. This role is integral to Biogen's mission of delivering groundbreaking medicines to individuals affected by complex diseases worldwide.

What You'll Do:

  • Support Biogen's alliances with a focus on pre-Commercial assets from pre-clinical through Phase II.
  • Contribute to alliance design and develop strategies for project execution of post-deal readiness activities.
  • Propose and execute collaboration guiding principles and objectives; recommend changes to governance structure and develop joint ways of working.
  • Act as a technical expert on alliance contracts, facilitating contract agreement execution and contributing to contract development and amendments.
  • Drive alliance governance, ensuring alignment with internal and partner collaborators on agenda, preparation, and outcomes tracking.
  • Build knowledge of partner capabilities and establish relationships with partner counterparts, representing the voice of the alliance.
  • Develop alliance reporting and monitor alliance health.
  • Implement tools and best practices for best-in-class alliance execution.
  • Drive functional learnings within an alliance.

Required Skills:

  • Knowledge of alliance contracts and the ability to translate them into actionable strategies.
  • Experience in stakeholder management, both internally and with partners.

  • Proven track record of leading projects and executing multiple workstreams in parallel.
  • Strong ability to communicate complex ideas and persuade others.
  • Experience with change management strategies.
  • Strong written and verbal executive communication skills.

Required Experience:

  • 12+ years of experience in Life Sciences Alliance Management or related roles, such as Research, Development, or Commercial areas. An advanced degree may substitute for experience, as appropriate.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field required.
  • Adjacent experience in Finance, Business Development, Strategy, Commercial, Medical, R&D, and Manufacturing is strongly considered.
  • Track record of strong individual contributor experience in a matrixed organization and leading cross-functional projects.

Additional Information

The base compensation range for this role is: $196,000.00-$270,000.00

Base salary offered is determined through an analytical approach utilizing a combination of factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills & experience, job location, and internal equity.

Regular employees are eligible to receive both short term and long-term incentives, including cash bonus and equity incentive opportunities, designed to reward recent achievements and recognize your future potential based on individual, business unit and company performance.
