About the Role:

Artificial Intelligence is becoming a transformative force in the biopharma industry, and our IT organization is at the forefront of integrating AI to enable smarter science, faster decision-making, and more personalized patient care.

We are seeking talented, curious, and motivated undergraduate students to join our co-op program under AICT. Over the course of approximately 6 months, co-ops will have the opportunity to work on high-impact, real-world projects involving AI, machine learning, and data analytics-contributing directly to our innovation pipeline.

This is more than just a co-op; it's a chance to explore how AI is shaping the future of healthcare. During your time with us, you'll gain hands-on experience, mentorship from seasoned professionals, and exposure to cutting-edge technologies in the biotech space.

What You'll Do:

As a co-op, you will:

1. Assist with AI Model Development

  • Assist in building and optimizing machine learning models, ensuring they meet project requirements.
  • Participate in the preprocessing of datasets and data cleaning to improve the performance of AI models.
  • Work with supervised, unsupervised, and reinforcement learning techniques, depending on the project.

2. Conduct Research and Data Analysis

  • Perform research on current AI trends, technologies, and best practices to assist the team in staying up to date.
  • Analyze and process large datasets to extract meaningful insights for AI model development.

3. Test and Evaluation of AI Models

  • Assist in testing AI models to ensure they are functioning as expected.
  • Identify and address potential issues or inaccuracies in AI systems.

4. Collaborate with Cross-functional Teams

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams in R&D, clinical, or commercial areas to identify and implement AI-driven solutions
  • Work closely with engineers, data scientists, and other teams to align AI solutions with business goals.
  • Contribute ideas and insights during team meetings, offering solutions to optimize AI solutions.

Who You Are:

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a passion for technology and an interest in innovative, data-driven approaches to the field of information technology. We are looking for the following characteristics and experience:

  • Proficiency with Python, R, or similar programming languages
  • Foundational knowledge of machine learning, statistics, and data analysis
  • Experience with ML libraries, such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, CoreFlow, and Sklearn
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure), big data technologies (Spark), and version control systems (Git) is beneficial
  • Previous coursework or projects related to machine learning or AI is a plus
  • Self-motivated and results-oriented
  • Quick learner with ability and willingness to learn / understand new concepts and frameworks, algorithms, technology as needs arise.
  • Passion and aptitude for technology with a desire to innovate.
  • Ability to thrive in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Interpersonal competence and strong communication

To participate in the Biogen Internship or Co-op Program, students must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
  • At least 18 years of age prior to the scheduled start date.
  • Currently enrolled in an accredited community college, college, university or skills program/apprenticeship.

Education:

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's program in Computer Science, Data Science, Bioinformatics, Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Business Analytics or a related field
  • Class of 2027 graduate

Additional Information

The base compensation range for this role is: $25.00-$29.00

The actual hourly wage offered will consider the candidate's current academic level and degree candidacy, inclusive of Associate, Bachelor's, Master's, JD, MD, PhD and MBA programs. It will comply with state or local minimum wage requirements specific to the job location.
