Associate Director, Strategy & Execution - Global Medical Capabilities
About This Role
The Associate Director, Medical Strategy & Operational Excellence - Global Medical Capabilities, is responsible for driving the strategic plan and related initiatives for the Global Medical Capabilities (GMC) team. Comprised of five functions - Medical Information, Global Access Mechanisms, Congress Excellence, Field Medical Training & Excellence, and Governance, Risk & Control - GMC combines compliance, operations, training, information, and access, to empower the broader, worldwide Medical Affairs teams to operate effectively and compliantly. Reporting to the Head of Global Medical Strategy & Execution (S&E), this role will support the Head of GMC and the GMC LT, and will be part of a team of strategy and execution leads that collaborate to drive consistency across the Global Medical units and support Medical as strategic partners. The Assoc. Dir. provides leadership, insights, and coordination to drive business agility, facilitates customer-specific deliverables, and ensures compliance standards are met. Having a matrixed role, the Associate Director will identify and oversee critical operational aspects, prioritizing work across five unique functional areas, as well as contributing to the Global Medical S&E Team to ensure strategic alignment and awareness to the CMO.
What You'll Do
- Drive execution through strategic planning, annual goal setting, and budget oversight - Lead and participate in critical planning meetings and/or cross-functional committees to develop objectives, identify key priorities, and implement strategies and procedures; lead annual planning processes, in coordination with Finance and HR, to ensure workforce and activity planning supports the annual and long-term goals. Manage annual goal setting and progress to ensure strategic objectives are being met.
- Collaborate to develop the GMC team vision, scope, and objectives - Drive a strong culture that fosters accountability, trust, and respect for all team members; proactively identify, support, and in some cases lead the continuous improvement of barriers to execution.
- Oversee budget from development through execution - Track expenditures against POs, complete timely financial reports (e.g., monthly accruals), and promote budget discipline. Support LT team members with budget line allocation and onboard new staff on key finance workflows (accruals vs. invoices, PO processes, budget tracking tools, etc.).
- Drive strategic communications and reporting for senior leadership - Develop and manage strategic content and communications for senior leadership and cross-functional engagement, including dashboards and outcome metrics.
- Foster operational excellence - Leverage synergies across the Strategy & Execution network to drive creative solutions, consistency, and awareness across worldwide Medical; develop and drive strategies to ensure operational excellence, maintain a knowledge of systems and promote compliance through training.

Education/ Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree is required. Advanced degree in relevant field is preferred.
- Minimum 5+ years in the Pharma, Biotechnology, or Life Sciences industry; Medical Affairs operations and/or Commercial functional knowledge preferred.
- Experience in project management and/or finance is required, including strategy and long-range planning experience; strong facilitation skills, and ability to execute in a timely manner is required.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and writing skills, energy and enthusiasm with a positive outlook is required; must possess strong emotional intelligence (interpersonal, communication, and relationship building skills) with a collaborative, team-oriented approach and solid work ethic.
- Exceptional organizational skills and resourcefulness with a demonstrated ability to work in an accurate manner is required; superior attention to detail is required.
- Ability to proactively anticipate and identify issues and propose solutions or take steps to resolve them is required.
- Strong strategic and critical thinking skills with a demonstrated ability to understand how a collection of ideas are related is required.
- Strong business acumen and the ability to quickly learn and absorb new information is required.
- Self-starter with ability to work independently or within teams is required; high degree of innovation and enthusiasm for identifying, prioritizing, and executing on business process and system improvements is required.
- Excellent command of computer skills (Excel, Outlook, Word, Power Point, etc.) Proficiency in SharePoint or ability to create and maintain a department intranet site is strongly preferred.
- Experience with Smartsheet or other collaborative work project management platforms is strongly preferred.

Additional Information
The base compensation range for this role is: $159,000.00-$219,000.00
Base salary offered is determined through an analytical approach utilizing a combination of factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills & experience, job location, and internal equity.
