Job Description

The successful candidate will report into the head of market access and stakeholder relations and, working in close collaboration with the local marketing, field market access and medical teams in addition to North America HEOR and Value & Access teams to develop the market access strategy, value proposition and plans for key stakeholder groups (private and public) involved in the reimbursement process nationally and provincially. The key responsibilities of this role encompass leading the preparation of HTA submission dossiers to INESSS, CADTH and private Insurers including the strategy, clinical summaries, comparative effectiveness evidence synthesis, Budget Impacts and economic modelling), supporting the development of pricing strategies, Supporting the management of price negotiation through pCPA, and leading private Insurers negotiation and implementation.

Responsibilities:

  • Develops and executes market access strategies and evidence generation plans to meet HTA requirements aligned with country objectives
  • Works cross functionally with global, N.A and local medical and commercial functions to develop value propositions and messages tailored to multiple stakeholders including payers, clinicians, PAGs and policy makers.
  • Project lead (including day to day management) for national HTA submissions, HC system implications and payer tools working closely with field Max to ensure optimal patient access to new and existing Biogen products
  • Supports the development and evaluation of innovative pricing strategies (including submissions) for PCPA and private payer negotiations
  • Develops and deploys market access solutions and tools to field teams (including training and support for payer meetings) to facilitate payer discussions
  • Fosters key relationships with payers and HTA bodies, developing innovative solutions which are win-wins for patients, the broader healthcare system and Biogen
  • Anticipates and shapes future dynamics in the external environment impacting market access and reimbursement, working closely with local and N.A teams to convey requirements for program development to satisfy HTA needs
  • Maintains strong compliance with all relevant internal policies, compliance and legal requirements
  • Perform company business in compliance with relevant regulations, company policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Education
    • University Degree educated in a relevant scientific discipline (or international equivalent)
    • MSc in health economics or equivalent preferred
  • Certifications


  • Experience, including # of years
  • Minimum of 7 years strategic market access experience within the pharmaceutical industry or a consultancy
  • Language(s)
    • Fluent in English, both verbal and written with the ability to communicate effectively cross-functionally spanning all levels of the organization, proficiency in French an asset.
  • Skills
    • Ability to combine strategic vision with tactical hand-on execution and a high work capacity
    • Strong technical skills with prior experience in assessing and critiquing health economic models
    • Thorough knowledge and understanding of the Canadian Healthcare systems and HTA processes
    • Highly analytical with excellent written and verbal skills
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build working relations both internally and externally
    • Disease area expertise in the neurosciences preferred
    • Rare disease experience desirable
    • Experience in working in a dynamic, lean environment is preferred
    • Customer focused
    • Ability to work across multiple digital platforms and early adoption of new systems/applications.
