Job Description Summary

The Service Engineering System Support Specialist - Informatics (SSS) plays a vital role in the BD Life Sciences, Diagnostic Systems Global Informatics Service Team. Acting as a Tier 3 global informatics support resource, the SSS provides deep service and customer experience insights to support regional service teams and new product development. This role is responsible for service deliverables related to BD middleware solutions, integrated with instrumentation and LIS/EMR systems.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Acts as subject matter expert and service lead for assigned products, leading lifecycle management efforts, monitoring product and service performance metrics, and driving continuous improvement.
  • Manages technical service documentation and training material development; ensures alignment with installation, repair, and maintenance needs.
  • Resolves globally escalated issues and serves as liaison between service and R&D to identify root causes and improvements. Interfaces with LIS and EMR/EHR systems and configures, tests, and deploys interfaces with customer Health Information Systems.
  • Leads sustaining and continuous improvement projects, ensuring regional readiness and execution of field upgrades and software rollouts.
  • Represents the voice of service as a core or extended team member in new product development, ensuring serviceability and lifecycle objectives are met.
  • Supports development and maintenance of customer support strategies for new and existing products; leads cross-functional global service teams to enhance service efficiency and customer satisfaction.

About You

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, IT, Health Informatics, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum 3 years of professional experience in Health Informatics, IT, or Systems Integration, including team leadership.
  • At least 2 years of experience in LIS/EMR integration, including ASTM and HL7 messaging.
  • Technical expertise in Windows Server environments, networking, SQL, and DOS commands.
  • Experience authoring technical documentation and delivering training.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in a related field.
  • Prior experience in Service Engineering, Technical Support, R&D, Clinical Ops, or New Product Development.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity regulations in medical devices.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and tools such as SAP, ServiceMax, Salesforce CRM.
  • Experience in a global, customer-facing consulting role.
