Job Description Summary

Provide engineering level technical support for the R&D Packaging Design & Development Laboratory. This is an entry level engineering position.

The Package Engineer will support packaging project(s) involving commercial products to support business requirements. This role will focus on R&D Packaging Lab testing from concept to qualification for both new to the world designs as well as supporting on-market projects for cost savings, standardization and efficiency opportunities throughout the value chain.

SUMMARY:

Provide engineering level technical support for the R&D Packaging Design & Development Laboratory. This is an entry level engineering position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Execute test methods and protocols in the evaluation of medical device packaging materials, components and systems
  • Author laboratory reports

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge of ISO 11607:2006 and ISO 13485:2003 preferred
  • Knowledge of ISTA and ASTM package performance test methods preferred
  • Knowledge of vibration, shock and compression test theory and equipment preferred
  • Basic understanding of good laboratory practices.
  • Quality focused, detail oriented and methodical
  • Good customer service focus
  • Great Team member
  • Ability to design and lead innovative packaging/mechanisms preferred
  • Proficient in the use of a personal computer with intermediate keyboarding skills and proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Microsoft Project, TOPS/CAPE and various statistical software packages.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • BS in Packaging Engineering or related field of study preferred
  • Lab experience preferred
  • Medical device and/or pharmaceutical experience a plus
  • Drawing experience and proficiency preferred (Artios/Auto CAD, Solidworks, ect) a plus
  • Spanish Language skills a plus

COMPUTER SKILLS

  • Proficient experience with MS Word, Excel, Outlook and Powerpoint.
  • Able to comprehend and use computer controlled laboratory equipment.
