Controls Engineer
Job Description Summary
The Controls Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and improving automated systems and processes within the facility to maximize efficiency, quality, and reliability. This position ensures the optimal performance of automated equipment and controls, supports continuous improvement initiatives, NPI, process transfers, and provides technical expertise for equipment troubleshooting and process optimization. As part of the Asset Care team, the Controls Engineer collaborates closely with maintenance, reliability, manufacturing unit technical teams, R&D (Research and Development) and AME (Advance Manufacturing Engineering) and Safety to ensure equipment complies with required specifications and with internal and external regulations.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
1. Design, program, and debug PLCs, HMIs, robots, servo drives, and other automation systems.
2. Develop and implement automation solutions for new or existing production processes.
3. Research, define, develop, and implement new state of the art manufacturing processes, methods, and technologies.
4. Perform troubleshooting and root cause analysis for automated equipment failures.
5. Maintain and update controls systems documentation, electrical schematics, and programs.
6. Support the installation and commissioning of new equipment and upgrades.
7. Coordinate with equipment suppliers, contractors, and integrators for automation projects implementation.
8. Understand process capability metrics and work with manufacturing unit engineering to improve performance of the operation overall, from an Equipment/Controls/Automation perspective.
9. Support equipment validation activities when applicable.
10. Comply with all safety and quality policies, practices and procedures. Effectively communicate any action that does not comply with this normative.
11. Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departamental and company goals.
12. Other duties as required to support the needs of the business.
