The Team
An exciting opportunity for a motivated credit professional to gain broad exposure to asset finance, and develop deep industry knowledge in key sectors (including shipping, rail, other land transport, and general manufacturing), working on complex structured transactions ranging from big-ticket asset financing to general equipment financing solutions (with deal sizes ranging anywhere from $5MM to >$100MM).
You will be a key member of our EMEA Credit Leasing team which comprises of 5 Credit Officers (and 2 Credit Support Officers) located in our London and Dublin offices. In addition to working/interacting with clients, you will also work closely with a broad group of highly experienced colleagues, a variety of internal stakeholders, relationship managers and second line risk function, providing significant scope for collaboration and development.
Responsibilities
You will be responsible for the delivery of integrated credit solutions to clients as well as on-going portfolio management. Providing high-quality credit analysis, ensuring accurate and timely analysis of financial statements, assignment of risk ratings, and required client reviews.
- Responsible for the underwriting and credit structuring of facilities originated by the International Asset Finance & Global Corporate Aircraft Finance teams.
- Managing the "end-to-end" credit process - spanning early screening of potential transactions, undertaking client due diligence, preparation of credit approval memos (and obtaining all required Credit & Risk sign-offs), participating in documentation review and negotiations, and the on-going "in-life" management of transactions.
- Detailed evaluation and review of the client's creditworthiness and appropriateness of the transaction structure - including written analysis of all factors that affect a client's ability to repay and/or service their obligations on time; the identification and assessment of strengths, weaknesses and key risks (credit, market and operational) associated with the opportunity (as well as identifying and describing mitigating factors); assessment of industry risk and trends, and the collateral supporting the financing.
- Exercise strong credit judgment - with a view to structuring / underwriting transactions that fit the Bank's Risk Appetite, and adhere to internal policy, procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborating with Transaction Management/Legal colleagues to negotiate documentation and close deals.
- Manage the credit monitoring process for a portfolio of clients, including reviewing financial statements, assessing compliance with financial covenants, updating risk ratings, and preparing periodic status reviews.
- Develop, maintain, and manage internal relationships with business partners including originations, transaction management, risk management and Legal.
What we are looking for
- Previous credit risk experience at a leading financial services provider (not necessarily with an asset finance or asset finance underwriting background).
- Excellent credit analysis skills (cash flow modelling an advantage), and experience in analysing, assessing, structuring transactions and documentation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills - ability to convey thoughts clearly and concisely - with a view to influencing key Credit & Risk decision-makers.
- Able to quickly absorb and follow credit policies and procedures; demonstrated ability to continuously learn, understand processes, systems and learn and adapt to a changing environment and responsibilities with a proactive work ethic.
- Demonstrate strong financial, analytical, and numerical skills.
- Ability to analyse and interpret third party legal documentation and familiarity with loan documentation preferred.
- Intellectually curious, with a commercial mindset, and attention to detail and accuracy.
- Can demonstrate strong organisational skills, able to work under pressure and proficient in managing multiple priorities and accomplish objectives in a specified timeframe.
