Job Responsibilities

  • Identify, develop, and maintain alpha strategy, quantitative research, relative value models and economic research for Australia and New Zealand.
  • Develop backtesting strategies, pricing and valuation models and systematic macro models.
  • Contribute to high-frequency research publications and provide unique insights into markets and policy developments.
  • Provide detailed analysis of the AU/NZ economies, rates and bond markets, and presentation of views and ideas to support the activity of the economist and FX & rates strategist for Australia and New Zealand.
  • Be able to contribute to writing thematic research and generating trade recommendations to support the local business and Bank of America's global clients.
  • The role will also involve maintaining databases and models, updating forecasts, and providing analysis for regularly published research and client requests.
  • Develop rapport and relationships with sales and trading.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years' experience trading fixed income, as a quantitative analyst, FX/ rates strategist or as an economist.
  • A Bachelor's degree in economics, quantitative finance or a statistics, pure mathematics or a STEM field.
  • A strong interest in developing a working knowledge of economics, the money, bonds, swaps & bond futures market and producing trade recommendations for clients.
  • Strong modelling, advanced statistical analysis and programming skills are essential.
  • Demonstrated skill in written communication and the ability to critically interrogate economic or market data.
  • An interest in producing high quality trade recommendations to support Bank of America's clients.
  • Important to this role is an inquiring nature and ability to think logically while expressing your views clearly and in an engaging manner.
  • Creative thinking: Ability to generate new ideas and possibilities, and to see business opportunities from a novel perspective.
  • Flexibility: The capacity to adapt approach considering shifting priorities or changing conditions.
  • Team Orientation/ Teamwork/ Collaboration: The willingness to work as a member of a team and to manage competing priorities on a day-to-day basis.
