Associate: Data Scientist, Global Research Predictive Analytics

Job Description:

The Associate will be a member of the Predictive Analytics team and will work with research analysts across regions to identify and analyze data that informs analysts' investment ideas and is communicated via research reports.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify, acquire and cleanse data sources relevant to each project, including proprietary data, alternative data, market data and fundamental data
  • Analyze data using statistical methods, tools and time-series analysis
  • Visualize, simplify and communicate data analysis to research analysts in a digestible manner that they can communicate to their clients
  • Automate recurring analyses and routines
  • Troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues
  • Stay current on academic white papers, attend industry conferences and seek opportunities to implement cutting-edge techniques
  • Participate in company, department and team events, including employee networks and committees

Required Skills:

  • Undergraduate Degree, Master's Degree preferred or equivalent years of experience
  • 3+ years of full-time experience working with data
  • Direct experience working in the alternative data space is preferred
  • Experience writing Python code to retrieve data via APIs and conduct statistical analysis, machine learning, web scraping and sentiment analysis using Natural Language Processing (NLP)
  • Experience writing SQL queries to retrieve data
  • Advanced Excel skills and working with large datasets
  • Intellectually curious with strong analytic, quantitative, and critical reasoning skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail; exercise strong quality control over own work
  • Superior problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work effectively with others in a collaborative environment, as well as the ability to work independently

Pay and benefits information

Pay range

$70,000.00 - $175,000.00 annualized salary, offers to be determined based on experience, education and skill set.

Discretionary incentive eligible

This role is eligible to participate in the annual discretionary plan. Employees are eligible for an annual discretionary award based on their overall individual performance results and behaviors, the performance and contributions of their line of business and/or group; and the overall success of the Company.
