Position Overview

We're seeking a passionate and experienced Software Engineering Manager to support a team of smart and driven engineers who are building real-world solutions for the construction industry. Our engineering team spans iOS, Android, Windows, web, and backend platforms. Our experiences power construction teams in the office, trailer and field, enabling them to understand and execute on projects with a level of speed, safety and predictability which was never before possible in pure paper workflows. Our work is at the heart of the flagship products offered by Autodesk Construction Solutions (ACS) and has a large impact across our customer landscape. This individual will bring excellent cross-functional communication skills and is a life-long learner who's passionate about helping their team grow. Autodesk's Bidding application gives general contractors and subcontractors in the commercial construction industry (e.g., painters, plumbers, electricians, etc.) a quick and efficient way to control pre-construction workflows. We help our customers manage millions of bidding opportunities every month, through an easy-to-use, modern web application.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a diverse engineering team of backend and web developers
  • Collaborate closely with your Product and Design counterparts to define success metrics for your team. Define, scope and deliver functionality which enables key end-user workflows
  • Guide the implementation of individual components and features with an emphasis on producing high quality, reusable software through use of test-driven development and other sound software engineering practices
  • Collaborate with other product teams across ACS to ensure commitments are met
  • Drive process & culture improvements within your team
  • Recruit and develop team members - guiding their growth through participation in software design reviews and code reviews, as well as through performance coaching and direct feedback
  • Help engineers on the team navigate their personal and professional growth at Autodesk
  • Foster an environment that combines debate, collaboration, honesty, and a strong focus on results

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS or MS in a technical field, or significant equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of software engineering experience
  • Experience managing high performing teams and delivering enterprise level software
  • Excellent technical problem-solving skills and aptitude to learn new technologies and methodologies
  • Experience with at least one server-side framework
  • Clear communicator in verbal and written form

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience developing/designing highly performant APIs or middleware components
  • Strong debugging, testing, and problem-solving skills

Salary transparency

Salary is one part of Autodesk's competitive compensation package. For U.S.-based roles, we expect a starting base salary between $145,800 and $235,950. Offers are based on the candidate's experience and geographic location, and may exceed this range. In addition to base salaries, we also have a significant emphasis on annual cash bonuses, commissions for sales roles, stock grants, and a comprehensive benefits package.
