Material Handler/Stockroom Clerk

ATS Scientific Products is currently seeking a Material Logistics Coordinator to join the team!

With safety, quality, efficiency and customer service as a priority the Material Logistics Coordinator will be a critical part of the business. Using your import and export knowledge you will facilitate the receiving moving and shipping of supplies, stock materials and products. You will manage the flow of orders requiring strong reliance on monitoring and co-ordination of delivery pickup and/or drop off schedules. You will execute the logistics plan for both domestic and international projects with an emphasis on controlling costs while meeting schedule, customer and compliance requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Receiving material into the facility and distribution to the appropriate points of use.
  • Picking, packing & dispatching customer orders.
  • Maintain good inventory accuracy by having a meticulous level of detail.
  • Working in a FIFO manner to ensure all jobs are processed sequentially.
  • Managing courier deliveries and collections and tracking accordingly
  • Maintaining accurate stock holding and performing inventory counts where applicable.
  • Identifying, investigating, and processing inventory discrepancies
  • Loading and unloading deliveries manually and via forklift truck operation
  • Ensuring timely dispatch of sales orders to the daily sales order backlog
  • Updating data on all spread sheets required for exports and import compliance.
  • Processing non-conforming stock on receipt and through reject procedures

Additional Responsibilities

  • Highlight improvement opportunities.
  • Help to ensure all processes are documented to the required standard.
  • Various mechanical assembling of accessories and small pick and pack assemblies for all various product lines
  • Inspection of components using gauges and tools
  • Record keeping of products assembled and/or tested.
  • Working in any production department on inspection and small assembly where workload deems necessary.
  • Ad Hoc administration support for production departments.
  • May interface with worldwide customs, freight forwarders and clearing agents.
  • These tasks are by no means exhaustive and all aspects of working within a busy receiving and dispatch environment are required to be carried out.

EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:

  • A good team player with the ability to work without supervision.
  • Good communications skills.
  • IT literate, MS Office, use of the Internet
  • Always maintaining a positive approach, an essential trait in a department that has many different inputs and challenges.
  • The ability to seek and implement improvement opportunities.
  • Quality awareness
  • Knowledge of import export procedures and customs requirements helpful but not required.
  • Very organized with great attention to detail
  • Knowledge of working within a receiving and/or distribution environment.
  • Manual Handling Operations and EHS expectations when moving a variety of weights.
  • Kinetic Lifting Methods
  • Experience in mechanical assembly within a light engineering environment
  • Full clean driving license
  • Fork lift license helpful but not required

GENERAL:

The nature of the business is such that the material being handled ranges in weight. As such, appropriate PPE will need to be worn and at all times, safety shoes. Additionally, as everyone has their own threshold as to what they can sensibly lift, a level of self-regulation is needed to avoid injuries so a detailed level of manual handling awareness will be required. This will happen through training and self-regulation. The wider team will, of course, help to ensure improvements are implemented and add appropriate processes to minimize risk.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment characteristics described here are typical of those an employee might encounter while performing the essential functions of this job.

  • Work is normally performed in both the office and the shop.
  • The office environment is an interior office with air conditioning.
  • The shop contains mobile equipment, machinery, and high voltages.
  • The shop noise level is variable and may require hearing protection in some areas.
  • The shop is heated when required but many areas are not air conditioned.
  • Some shop processes use high voltage arcs or concentrated magnetic fields.
  • The shop contains open flames and caustic chemicals.
  • Some areas of the shop may be designated as hard hat zones.

HSE

All employees have the responsibility to work in a safe manner and report any health, safety or environmental concern to their manager or supervisor in a timely manner.

Employee responsibilities for Health, Safety and Environment include:

  • Work in compliance with divisional health, safety and environmental procedures
  • Refrain from removing or altering safety devices or guarding unless hazardous energies are controlled through lockout-tagout methods
  • Report any unsafe conditions or unsafe acts
  • Report defect in any equipment or protective device
  • Ensure that the required protective equipment is used for the assigned tasks
  • Attend all required health, safety and environmental training
  • Report any accidents/incidents to supervisor
  • Assist in investigating accidents/incidents
  • Refrain from engaging in any prank, contest, feat of strength, unnecessary running or rough and boisterous conduct

Salary Range: $20/hr - $22/hr
