As a key contributor to the Jira Align Engineering Team, you will be instrumental in simplifying agile software development at scale by bringing business and software development organizations together in one intuitive platform. Jira Align is the flagship product in the Enterprise Agility Planning space, and Atlassian is increasing investment in this area!
In this role of Engineering Manager, you will be leading Jira Align Performance and On-Premise Serviceability engineers responsible for performance optimizations, operations and investment in on-premises serviceability. You will work to help define, prioritize and deliver initiatives to improve application performance, monitoring and logging solution, on-premise dashboards, alerting and more.

You will also manage individuals reporting to you requiring your skills at coaching, mentoring, removing blocking issues, and supporting them in their professional development to help unlock their full potential and growth.
Applying your knowledge of server and SaaS based products, you will lead engineers to transform and extend infrastructure components, test automation, performance baselining and sizing evaluations as well as serviceability taking the application to the next level in areas of quality, automation, reusability, scalability and performance. You will build and maintain effective teams, empowering them to achieve their goals through inspiration and creativity to help your teams solve difficult challenges. With your software engineering skills and experience, you will help design, build and run platform solutions on the core Jira Align product while improving developer experiences.

It's great, but not required, if you have:
- Fluency in the Microsoft tech stack/languages (.Net, C#, scripting languages, etc.) with the ability to review code and provide feedback.
- Automated deployment and release management tools (ex. Octopus, Jenkins) experience
- Experience working with Amazon Web Services or Microsoft Azure
On your first day, we'll expect you to have:
- 8+ years of experience leading and growing a high-caliber engineering teams
- 5+ years of prior industry experience as a back-end engineer with performance optimization experience
- Experience building, scaling, optimizing and operating large scale SaaS/server based products
- Experience with software development methodologies including Agile, Scrum with remote and distributed teams
- A track record of execution, risk management, and delivering outcomes
- Experience with performance analysis and optimizations
