Design Operations Lead, AI

San Francisco, CA / Remote

Working at Atlassian

Atlassians can choose where they work whether in an office, from home, or a combination of the two. That way, Atlassians have more control over supporting their family, personal goals, and other priorities. We can hire people in any country where we have a legal entity. Interviews and onboarding are conducted virtually, a part of being a distributed-first company.

This is a remote position. To help our teams work together effectively, this role requires you to be located in the Pacific Timezone.

We are looking for an experienced Design Operations Lead, AI to join our team to support! You will report to the Head of Design Operations.

As Design Operations Lead, you will:

Lead as a strategic partner: You will understand the big picture and drive overall success, while tactically delivering incremental value for the team and the company. As an embedded DesignOps partner, you will partner with the Head of Design, Atlassian Intelligence, and their leadership team on org-level design initiatives. You will focus on leading operating cadences, and scaling practices that improve quality and effectiveness. You will be a "go-to" partner always one step ahead, anticipating needs, identifying painpoints, and implementing solutions to enhance the effectiveness of design teams.

Bring strategy to action: Leading multiple workstreams, you will lead collaborative efforts to improve work management practices, instill effective team practices, and ensure alignment on a global change strategy. You will run complex -- often ambiguous -- programs. You will establish processes and governance and partner with Leads to provide clear guardrails while empowering teams to move quickly.

Role model communication and influence: You will lead through influence. Promoting shared understanding, and collaboration across teammates, leadership, designers, and partners. You will know when to drive, when to coach, and when to dive in.

Improve Design Ops excellence: As a senior member of our team, you will help our Design Operations team improve operational best practices, strengthen feedback and learning loops, implement our long-term strategy, and lead efforts to deliver measurable outcomes within the team and across the broader Design organization.

  • You are a multiplier at all levels. You are a team player who seamlessly collaborates with diverse teams to navigate challenges. You are a multiplier who recognizes the skills around you and you inspire and motivate others to deliver their best work.
  • You are a systems thinker. You always have a line of sight to the big picture. You're constantly looking to connect the dots and solve the root problem not just the immediate symptom.
