Role Summary:
Join athenahealth as a Senior Pricing Analyst, where you will play a crucial role in managing and optimizing pricing strategies that impact the healthcare technology landscape. This position is based in Boston, MA, and offers a hybrid work environment combining both onsite collaboration and remote flexibility. As a member of the Pricing Deal Desk team, this role reports to the Senior Manager and is responsible for conducting financial analysis and negotiating contracts to inform and influence business strategy. S/he will be focused on client and prospect pricing models to ensure profitable customer acquisition and growth and work with various stakeholders to coordinate across the organization. They will need to be a team player and proficient at delivering clear insight and guidance. To be successful, they will need to be hands-on and capable of completing technical and analytical work, as well as communicate with various stakeholders ranging from Associates to the Senior Leadership Team.
Team Summary:
The Pricing Finance team at athenahealth is responsible for managing prospect pricing requests and reviewing rate adjustments for existing clients, ensuring pricing accuracy and competitiveness. The team performs ad-hoc financial and market analysis to support strategic pricing decisions and innovate processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. Team members serve as critical representatives during internal and external meetings, advocating for data-driven and customer-focused pricing strategies. They work collaboratively across departments to align pricing initiatives with business goals and maintain strong vendor and client relationships.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain pricing models and analyses to support contract negotiations and business growth.
- Manage contract negotiations related to pricing agreements with internal stakeholders and external partners.
- Analyze pricing trends, customer data, and market conditions to identify opportunities for value creation.
- Prepare and present pricing proposals and financial analysis to senior leadership and client teams.
- Utilize Power BI, Tableau, and Excel to build reports and dashboards that clearly communicate pricing data and insights.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with sales, customer success, legal, and finance teams to ensure pricing strategies are aligned and compliant.
- Drive continuous process improvements within the pricing function to increase accuracy, efficiency, and scalability.
Additional Job Responsibilities:
- Support the implementation of new pricing tools and systems.
- Participate in special projects related to health economics and market analysis.
- Contribute to training and mentoring of junior associates in pricing methodologies and tools.
- Assist in the development of trend analysis to capitalize on opportunities and mitigate risk.
- Represent the pricing function in broader company initiatives and cross-departmental meetings.
- Maintain updated documentation of pricing policies and procedures.
Expected Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field required.
- 4+ years of relevant experience in pricing, finance, or contract negotiation, preferably within healthcare or a related industry.
- Intermediate skills in Excel, including financial modeling and data analysis.
- Solid understanding of healthcare industry dynamics, particularly related to pricing and payment reimbursement.
- Experience with the Salesforce platform is preferred.
- Experience in handling government & commercial contracts, preferred.
- Strong analytical, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Experience with Power BI and other data visualization tools such as Tableau.
