The US Head of Compensation and Benefits (C&B) is responsible for the overall management of the US compensation and benefit programs including the compensation philosophy, policies, and practices. This role will work closely with the Global Head of Compensation & Benefits, US Head of HR, HR Business Partners (HRBP's) and Business Leaders to deliver innovative solutions that continue to attract, motivate, and retain outstanding employees throughout the US. They will create effective strategies to evaluate competitive positions in employee compensation and benefits. Additionally, US Head of C&B, develops cost control procedures to assure maximum benefit coverage at the least possible cost to the company and employee. This position ensures compensation programs are consistently administered in compliance with policies and governmental regulations. The US Head of C&B also provides general oversight and guidance to the US Internal Mobility office which is a component of the C&B organization.
Role and responsibilities
  • Leads a team to develop and manage the strategic design, and administration of compensation programs including base pay, bonus, merit increases, incentive, and equity programs as well as benefits in the United States. Partners, aligns and communicates where appropriate with headquarters as well as other regions.
  • Analyzes salary survey data, market trends, and competitive practices and make recommendations to management regarding individual and organizational salary adjustments, merit budgets, structure adjustments, and incentive and equity eligibility levels.
  • Evaluates grade level structure for base, incentive, and equity compensation on an annual basis and making recommendations when necessary.
  • Drives buy in with business leaders and other relevant stakeholders to potential change in cash, equity pay, and benefit strategies driven by business needs and changing market conditions. Allocate or re-allocate capital efficiently.
  • Seeks collaboration, exercises influence in order to enable ASML to make systematic and precise adjustments to future compensation and benefit plan design, pay budgets and workforce planning.
  • Works closely with Global C&B leader in developing a differentiated total rewards strategy to help ASML achieve its targeted growth and continuously aligned with its business objectives.
  • Advises/consults w/ company leadership and HRBP's on pay decisions, policy and guideline interpretation, and job evaluation including the design of creative solutions to specific compensation-related programs.
  • Close Strategic Partnering with US HRBP's and business leaders to ensure employee understanding of salary administration, incentive and equity programs, and performance management through training programs and regular communications.
  • Develops specific and effective communication plans for both compensation and benefits (policy features, eligibility, enrollment).
  • Understands the legal issues around compensation and benefits and develops and implements appropriate programs to ensure compliance.
  • Tracks and reports on financial benefits and performs additional investigations and analyses regarding best cost options.
  • Designs, develops, and manages budgets and plans for compensation and benefit programs.
  • Evaluates and compares existing benefits plans with those of other employers by analyzing other plans, surveys, and other sources of information.
  • Plans, develops, and/or participates in area and industry surveys. Analyzes results of surveys and develops specific recommendations for review by management.
  • Assists in developing company cost information for new benefits plans and makes recommendations to management concerning sharing of cost between employer and employee.
  • Participates in global initiatives to harmonize C&B policies, programs and administration where possible.

Education and experience
  • Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or related field. Master's degree or MBA highly desirable.
  • 15+ years of experience in Human Resources with a strong focus and track record leading Compensation and Benefits.
  • Experience in the Semiconductor or Technology industry is strongly desired.
  • Proficiency in California and Bay Area compensation is strongly desired.
  • Previous C&B Leadership in a global company at the division/regional level or in a global capacity with annual revenues greater than $500 Million is desired.
  • Cloud based HRIS experience and knowledge of HAY leveling structure desired.
  • PHR or SPHR and CCP/CBP highly desirable.

  • Candidate must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills. The ability to translate and statistically analyze data, and effectively report problems through written and/or graphical formats.
  • Excellent relationship building skills. Recognized as a leader with outstanding service at all levels of an organization.
  • In-depth knowledge of compensation theory and practice and knowledge of state and federal compensation laws and regulations required.
  • Must be a results-driven, highly energetic, service oriented, team player who can function effectively and independently in a fast-paced dynamic matrix environment.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to handle multiple tasks.
  • Strong leadership, management, goal accomplishment, interpersonal, and communication skills required.
  • Upholds the highest level of confidentiality, discretion, and integrity.
  • An ability to use excel, MS Word, PowerPoint, and electronic e-mail systems
