Introduction to the Job

The ASML Silicon Valley Development Operations and HPC Team continuously improves on 7 main processes: Code, Build, Test, Package, Release, Configure, Monitor. A successful candidate will be expected to lead a team tasked with providing an infrastructure capable of delivering products of the highest quality for our software developers and test engineers.

This position is a key member of the Engineering Operations team as the Manager for DevOps and High Performance Computing (HPC) in the Cloud. This individual will be a senior manager overseeing a team of engineers and developers responsible for a large scale Linux cluster used for software development, testing, and qualification as well as exploratory studies and related activities in support of engineers and researchers developing and improving ASML's computational lithography software. The senior manager is accountable for the development of processes to manage operations, lead technical standards development, assist in architecture development, and supervise team managers and assist with their development. The role will collaborate with software professionals, venders / service providers, infrastructure groups, and operations groups to create and support an operational environment for new and existing services supported by DevOps and HPC Infrastructure.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Interface with central IT organizations for ensuring delivery of IT-supplied functionality required to support CICD, HPC deployment and applications.
  • Create and maintain a SLA for common requests with agreement from internal customers.
  • Project planning and management related to new functionality and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee cloud budget forecasting through monitoring of spend and coordinating with software managers (R&D, SQA, and product engineering) and marketing. Assist with CapEx planning for resources that are still on-prem.
  • Lead and manage in a team by prioritizing, planning and assigning tasks, with proactively communication to stakeholders.
  • Conform with and implement the company security requirements.

Education and Experience
  • BS in Computer Science or related field. MS preferred.
  • 10 or more years of experience with large scale Linux cluster environments in support of applications running at a total scale up to 50,000 cores.
  • 10 or more years of experience managing engineers responsible for deployment, configuration, and maintenance of servers, network, and storage within a large scale Linux cluster.
  • 5 or more years of experience with cloud-based deployments (Azure is preferred), including software-driven deployment and management of cloud resources (VMs, storage, containers, etc.).

Skills
  • Experience with cluster schedulers such as Spectrum LSF or Oracle Grid Engine.
  • Experience with traditional cluster storage options such as NFS and CIFS, as well as technologies available in the cloud.
  • Experience with cost monitoring, optimization, and forecasting in a dynamic cloud environment.
  • Provide infrastructures with a high level of integration between ticketing systems (Atlassian JIRA), continuous integration systems (Atlassian Bamboo or equivalent tooling), documentation and knowledge sharing systems (Atlassian Confluence), version control systems (Atlassian Bitbucket), SonarQube, and VDI.
  • Continuously support new technologies (GPU, ML, etc.) and improve CICD with development environment, build and deployment plans.
  • Demonstrate open, clear, concise and professional communication.

Other Information
  • This position is located on-site in San Jose, California. It requires onsite presence to attend in-person work-related events, trainings and meetings and to further ensure teamwork, collaboration and innovation.
  • A flexible workplace arrangement is available for remote work up to two days a week.
