Senior Accountant

Durham, NC

Asensus Surgical is looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Senior Accountant to join our growing Finance team. The position will be based in Durham, NC, reporting to the Corporate Controller. The position will be primarily responsible for assisting with accounting and reporting activities including: general ledger accounting, month-end close, quarterly review procedures and the annual internal/external audit. This role is a highly visible role within the Global Finance organization and will be involved in preparing and reviewing work prepared by others in the department. What You Bring

  • Minimum 4 years of relevant experience; public accounting experience preferred
  • BA/BS in Accounting and/or Finance is required
  • CPA designation strongly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of SEC reporting requirements, US GAAP, and SOX 404 compliance
  • Public accounting or public company experience preferred
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including V-lookups, X-lookups, and pivot tables
  • Problem-solving, analytical skills and the ability to balance multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to influence decisions based on expertise
  • Position requires high attention to detail and a desire for continuous improvement.
  • Experience with SAP S/4HANA preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and a professional attitude and demeanor working with the internal team.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work both independently and collaboratively, manage multiple projects, and prioritize workload to meet deadlines.

What You'll Do

  • Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close process and internal reporting requirements
  • Provide support for all SEC filings including 10-Q's, 10-K's, and 8-K's
  • Have an in-depth knowledge of US GAAP, primarily ASC 606 and ASC 842
  • Continuously improve the global accounting processes and procedures by identifying areas to streamline, automate or refine
  • Assist with intercompany activity of subsidiaries including elimination entries allowing for accurate consolidated reporting
  • Assist with SOX 404 processes, including internal control structure and risk assessment matrices
  • Provide guidance on complex transactions including acquisitions, impairments, litigation, etc.
  • Assist with administration and recording of stock-based compensation under ASC 718
  • Document accounting conclusions in technical memorandums
  • Interface with both internal and external auditors in support of audit procedures
