About the Opportunity

The Vice President (VP), People and Culture plays a key role in advancing Argen's vision by helping to build and implement new organizational strategies and refining current systems and processes related to people and culture that enhance inclusion, engagement, transparency, and accountability. Responsible for providing strategic leadership and direction to maximize employee engagement and contribution, while driving workforce excellence and productivity in an ISO and FDA-regulated environment. This position provides leadership and oversight for all human resources functions and programs including Compensation and Benefits, Talent Acquisition, Employee Relations, Employee Health, Workers Compensation, and Workforce Planning. This role will be the key business level leader responsible for building and supporting HR initiatives, processes, procedures, programs, and policies. The VP of People & Culture will be a champion of Argen's culture, and foster an environment that is collaborative and highly driven.

In this role, the successful candidate will:
  • Develops and leads the Human Capital strategies including plans, policies, and systems to support the mission and strategy behind the development of a robust workforce plan for the long term future of the organization; benchmarks the industry to stay current on trends affecting the talent pipeline.
  • Directs a team of HR professionals in recruiting, employee relations, organizational development, compensation, benefits, workers' compensation, employee health and HRIS systems.
  • Partners with leadership to support the development of Argen's strategic Human Capital plan, ensuring strong employer brand and compelling value propositions.
  • Leads employee relations programs to establish a positive employee-employer relationship and promote a high level of employee engagement.
  • Identifies and mitigates risk across the company related to all aspects of talent, health, and workforce safety issues and ensures appropriate compliance with federal and state employment laws.
  • Leads continuous improvement to enhance HR value proposition and establish data metrics.
  • Organizes and promotes succession planning on a regular annual cadence.
  • Ensures system implementations, including HCM systems are effective and maintained.
  • Creates reports and initiatives related to retention, recruitment, and leadership.
  • Develops and maintains relationships through effective and timely communication.
  • Oversees the development and implementation of policies and programs that provide for a positive and safe work environment in keeping with the company's values.
  • Collaborates with other leaders, ensuring the company is properly staffed to meet strategic and business goals through recruiting, on-boarding, retention, training and development programs.
  • Facilitates and monitors the implementation of standardized practices within the Human Resources department.
  • Develops strategic department and organizational plans and policies for HR areas including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, leave of absence, and terminations.
  • Maintains knowledge of laws, regulations, and best practices in employment law, human resources, and talent management.
  • Effectively structures compensation and benefits programs to attract and retain talent.
  • Refines compensation and benefit programs for all levels of the organization to ensure competitiveness and affordability.
  • Provides leadership and communication to ensure compliance with all employment related federal and state laws.
  • Ensures appropriate maintenance of confidential records and management access.
  • Handles sensitive and complex employee relations issues: counseling with employees, working with management, providing guidance and resolution.
  • Creates and sustains tools and programs for employee development to include performance management, training, and coaching to maximize current performance and prepare for future organizational challenges.
  • Provides guidance and leadership to the human resource management team; assists with resolution of human resource, compensation, and benefits questions, concerns, and issues.
  • Informs and interacts with management company-wide to support achievement of corporate goals. Interact with all levels of the organization on a regular basis to listen, instruct, collaborate, and coach. Interacts with the external community in understanding HR best practices and industry trends.
  • Attracts, retains, motivates and develops direct reports to meet objectives and achieve high performance.
  • Other duties as assigned.
What does it take to be successful?
  • Minimum of 12 years' progressively more responsible experience in Human Resources, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required. Advanced degree a plus. Professional certification (e.g., SPHR/SHRM-SP, CEBS, CCP) desired.
  • Experience in an ISO-certified and FDA-compliant environment preferred. Understanding of SOX compliance an added benefit.
  • Knowledge of state and federal employment laws required.
  • Demonstrated ability to use data and statistics to solve organization problems.
  • Understanding of the market trends for dental products and services desired.
  • Must convey a strong sense of direction and have the ability to motivate others to perform at their highest level, demonstrating high levels of accountability in completing assignments.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including both oral and written communication.
  • Demonstrated experience delegating assignments to a team and project managing tasks to successful completion.
  • Ability to communicate information in a clear, concise and tactful manner.
  • Ability to work collegially across functions and levels with demonstrated sense of urgency.
  • Flexibility in adapting to a rapidly changing environment to work with others in a professional and effective way.
  • Ability to maintain and effectively deal with highly confidential matters.
  • Experience coaching and mentoring a team to achieve successful results.
  • Strong practitioner of Human Resources skills; ability to develop and maintain appropriate HR infrastructure to support a growing company.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to include active listening, coaching, advising, facilitating and problem solving are required. Ability to apply these skills at all levels and in diverse settings.
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
  • High energy, self-starting professional with strong leadership skills and exceptional ethics and integrity.
  • Ability to interact with multiple groups with different agendas and concerns to produce maximum company benefit.
  • Must be able to effectively interact with people of diverse backgrounds, cultures and personalities.
  • High degree of ethics and professionalism in all interactions with colleagues, customers, and vendors.
  • Knowledge of cGMP regulations ISO 13485, 21CFR Part 820, CMDR SOR/98-282, 93/42/EEC, RDC 16 2013, MHLW MO 169 and TG(MD)R Sch3 preferred.
